Sticking to a diet is never a simple task. It requires dedication to the new eating plan and taking time to get exercise to burn more calories throughout the day. Set Realistic Goals:

The biggest part of failing in a diet is setting goals that are simply not realistic. The goal of losing ten pounds per week is unlikely to happen and will quickly deflate motivation to continue when the actual weight loss is only two or three pounds despite rigorous dieting.

Realistic goals are based on a few key factors: the final weight loss goal, the number of calories reduced and the amount of exercise it is possible to fit into a schedule. Losing weight starts with a realistic goal. For most individuals, setting a goal of losing one to two pounds per week is realistic based on a rigorous diet. Adding an hour of exercise might help drop one more pound per week if it is performed every day.

Make Changes Slowly:

Making every diet and exercise change at the same time might result is quick weight loss in the initial phases, but it is rarely sustainable. Fortunately, giving it a boost by adding a little extra to the exercise routine, such as walking a little further or planning a few more minutes on the treadmill will break the plateau and make it possible to lose weight again.

It is natural to eventually reach a point that the body stops losing weight, even if the weight loss goal is not yet met. This happens when the body gets used to the lower calorie diet and the exercise routine is no longer difficult for the body to manage. Fortunately, giving it a little boost will have a dramatic impact on the numbers.

Losing weight is not simple, but it is possible. Maintaining the motivation is a key part and it is not as difficult as it might seem.
