Aspergers Syndrome: Six Tips to Help Children With Aspergers Syndrome Cope With the Holiday Season

For children with Aspergers syndrome, the holidays can be a very overwhelming time. There is so much about the holidays that disrupts their routine and forces them out of their comfort zone. Holidays can be sensory chaos, with everyone running around doing different things at different times; loud music playing, unfamiliar smells, unfamiliar people. Its enough to make some children with Aspergers run for cover. But not to worry; there are several things you can do to help your child through the holiday season.

1. Routine is very important to children with Aspergers

Most of them want to get up at the same time, eat the same thing, watch the same stuff on TV, wear the same clothes, and so on. There is a sense of comfort and security that comes from knowing exactly what you will be doing every day. But during a holiday, everything changes. There is no school for the kids or work for the adults. That can be hard for some children with Aspergers to take - even if they dont like school!

What you want to do, then, is to prepare your child as best as possible for what will happen. As best as you can, you should give them the schedule for the day ahead of time. "At 11 AM, we will go over to Grandmas. You will wear your green shirt and your black pants. You will watch TV until it is time for lunch. Then you will sit next to me while we have turkey for lunch." And so on, listing the activities for the day. That way, your child can have a sense of what will happen.

2. Sensory issues are a possible issue during the holidays for children with Aspergers

There are a lot of things that the ordinary, non-autistic person would never have thought of that can be a problem for children with Aspergers. For example, do you notice the brightness of the lights on the Christmas tree? Does it bother you when they flash on and off? Can you smell air fresheners in a living room or perfume on someone at the other side of the room? Do you notice the fabric on the couch, or the volume of conversation? Children with Aspergers do. All this sensory information can be overwhelming and confusing to them.

So what do you do?

  • Well, as best you can, try to arrange the holiday gathering to minimize some of the most obvious things that you know will trigger your child - and possibly cause a meltdown.

  • If theyre sensitive to fragrances, ask people not to wear perfume or use harsh cleaning chemicals right before the party. Avoid scented candles.

  • Try to have the gathering in a large enough room that all the noise of the conversation is spread about a bit.

  • Keep the music at a reasonable level.

  • Since not all sensory issues are avoidable, teach your child that it is okay to leave the room when they feel they are getting overwhelmed, and to go somewhere quiet to regroup.

  • Finally, teach them how to recognize when they are getting overwhelmed so you can head off the problem before it happens.

3. Not knowing the unspoken rules about how to act can lead to misunderstandings

We all learn pretty early in life about the unspoken rules - especially those that go with holiday gatherings. Expectations may confuse them. They may not know things such as the appropriate way to react to presents they get; when it is time to open presents; what to do if they dont like the present. They may have trouble waiting for when its time to eat, or misinterpret things other people say to them. How much are you supposed to talk? Is it okay to talk to Uncle Al about the new worm farm you got? Why does he get so annoyed when you do?

Preparing in advance can alleviate these problems:

  • Again, the best way to prevent this type of confusion is to try to anticipate possible holiday scenarios, and talk with your child about them beforehand.

  • One way that you can do this is to try something called a social story. Take a notebook, and write and illustrate simple scenarios about what the child will be doing. So, for example, there could be a picture of a child opening presents, and at the bottom it says, "I will wait my turn while opening presents. I will not yell if I dont like what I got. If I get overwhelmed by noise, I can go to another room." Preparation is the key to success.

4. Tradition can be quite important for children with Aspergers

If youve always done things a particular way, it might be good to continue doing it that way. The traditions and routines that go with a particular holiday are probably the one thing your child will like most.

5. If your child has food allergies, be on the watch for food they cant eat

There will probably be quite a bit of it there. You will want to keep an eye on your child to see that they dont eat food that will make them sick or have a negative effect on their behavior, and youll want to bring special food for them to eat. By all means, try to avoid a lot of sugar and candy. Many kids with Aspergers dont handle sugar well.

6. Have reasonable expectations

Dont expect your child to be able to do things you know he or she cant do, like spend a long time in a noisy room full of chattering adults without a break, or eat foods that

he has sensory aversions to just to show how grown up he is.

If your child does have a temper tantrum or a meltdown, remember that it is not your fault, and it is not his fault. He is not trying to ruin your celebration; he is just overwhelmed. Take him to a quiet room, speak in soothing terms, and let him calm down.

The purpose of these tips is not to change your gathering so much that you or your family cant enjoy yourselves. But a little preparation does go a long way, and you want your child with Aspergers to get as much pleasure out of the day as they can, in their own way. If these pointers are followed to help children with Aspergers cope with the holidays, youll be well on your way to a calmer, more enjoyable holiday season for all.

Working Out on the Road - How to Stay Fit When Travelling

The most difficult thing with working out on the road is your commitment. Working out on the road begins before you leave home. Whether you work out regularly or rarely, are fit or out of shape, you have to decide, that on this trip, you WILL work out, no matter what. If you are not sure you want to pay the price then do this experiment.

1. Undress

2. Look in the mirror

3. Ask yourself, "Do I like what I see?" If the answer is yes, then ask yourself "Do I want to maintain my fitness while I am away?" If you do not like what you see, then ask "Do I want to start dealing with this now?"

If the answer is "yes" then you are ready to commit. Once you are committed, plan and prepare. To prepare ask "What type of workouts would I enjoy - outdoor, indoor, or a combination?" Now reflect on the question "What are the obstacles to working out most likely to occur on my trip?"

If you commit and prepare adequately, I guarantee you will dramatically shrink all of your obstacles and objections. Here are my tips to help you overcome the more common problems on the road.

Space (Indoors) You only need a 6 x 8 space which can be found in any hotel room. Gyms are a luxury but not necessary. (See this video I made on working out in a small area.)

Time Make working out your first priority after you awake and meditate. This frees you up to enjoy the days schedule. Otherwise ensure you get it done before bed.

Company Your best scenario is to have travel buddies with the same priority for fitness. Otherwise wake early and get it done before everyone else gets going.

Equipment The less equipment you take the better. (See my list below).

Nutrition You need to eat well! High protein breakfast and foods that sustain you throughout the day. Carrying good food with you when you can ensure you control your calories and may even be cheaper than eating out everywhere. (Check what I take with me below). Hydrate regularly throughout the day.

Injury If you have an injury respect it. Rest or train lightly. You are on vacation and want to be in good shape to enjoy your day!

Here is how I prepared for my 6 week trip to Australia:

Firstly I decided to do a combination of indoor and outdoor workouts, including surfing. The indoor workouts included resistance, high intensity cardio, plyometric -jump training and yoga, five days per week while away. My preparation was simple. I packed a set of work out DVDs for indoor training (played through my laptop), a black resistance band (weighs 1 pound), portable push up stands (1.5 pounds), running shoes and shorts. For nutrition I am taking supplements and a months supply of shakeology. Luckily my wife is a perfect travelling buddy who loves to workout and shares my commitment to stay fit.

So rather than return home after a great holiday to project "resurrect me", I will come back strong, in my training groove, and looking as good as, or better than, when I left! Now that is a win-win vacation.

As a traveller how do you stay fit when away? Please add your comments below as this is such an important part of your journey. Also I would love to know if these tips helped you at all and if so, how. Thanks for your reply.

Four Homemade Facial Masks to Lighten Skin Naturally

There are many good reasons besides vanity to want to lighten your skin. As we get into middle age, sometimes even as soon as our early 30s, our skin starts to lose the fresh, smooth look of youth.

Too Young for "Age Spots"?

Obviously a few wrinkles and crow's feet are to be expected as we age but in some people brown spots on the face can appear rather suddenly. They might show up as a brown blemish or two on the upper check or a line of small freckles along the upper lip. It seems like once this starts to happen more spots appear in the following months.

Areas of Discoloration Called Melasma

There's also a condition called melasma in which larger parts of the face get lighter or darker than the surrounding area. Sometimes melasma is called the "pregnancy mask" because it can be triggered by pregnancy and goes away soon after. But sometimes melasma is not related to pregnancy and it can be very frustrating to have a portions of discolored skin on the face, especially if you've always had nice even skin tone.

Main Culprits: Sun and Time

Over time our cells go a little haywire, that's why we don't live forever. And the effect of the sun on our face takes years to become apparent. That combination of sun and time create pigmentation time bombs that suddenly go off in the form of spots on our faces appearing seemingly out of nowhere.

Reappearance of Old Acne Scars

If you suffered from acne in your youth, that combination of sun and time also doesn't help as acne marks that had all but faded (and been happily forgotten) start to become more noticeable again.

Clear Skin Is Confidence

Obviously patches of different colored skin, brown blemishes and acne scars are more than vanity issues. Since we look each other in the face when interacting having it can make us very self conscious to interact with people when we have spots and patches melasma on our faces. This is why the word "correction" is sometimes used in skin care products - it's about getting back to our normal, natural selves.

So let's see what we can do about naturally correcting our skin color and getting our confidence back.

Nature Gave Us Blemishes, Use Nature To Correct Them

There are many good reasons to get "back to nature" when it comes to skin lighteners. There's the appeal of using natural ingredients instead of chemicals, wanting to avoid buying the bottles and containers cosmetics come in as well as avoiding the sting and side effects that can be part of chemical-based commercial bleaching products.

It turns out that it's easy to blend a natural face mask that lightens and whitens skin using the properties in everyday foods.

Common Skin Lightening Ingredients

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a well known skin treatment that's used in major name brand cosmetics. Well, you don't have to look any further than oranges and lemons and tomatoes to find lots of fresh natural vitamin C.

Other ingredients like the lactic acid in dairy and the absorbent and gentle scrubbing power of oats help clear blemished skin by removing old dry cells through exfoliation, and refreshing the skin's surface through a mild peeling effect.

Citrus Fruits - and Tomato - Lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, and tomato - have acidic vitamin C to stimulate new cell growth and have antioxidants for protection against free radicals
Dairy - Cream cheese, milk, cream and yogurt contain lactic acid to remove top layer cells
Honey - Natural sun block and antibacterial
Oatmeal - Wicks up dirt and oils and exfoliates with gentle scrubbing

Four Simple Homemade Masks

Here are four easy to make masks made with healthy natural ingredients.

Lemon, Cream Cheese and Oatmeal Mask

Mix 1 tablespoon oatmeal with 4 tablespoons cream cheese and half a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. The lactic acid from the cream cheese acts like a very light peel, shrinking pores and cleansing the skin. And the combination gently exfoliates and lightens too.

Yogurt and Orange Juice Mask

Mix 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) plain yogurt with two teaspoons lemon juice.
Apply thin layer to face, leave for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water.

Yogurt and Grapefruit Peel Mask

Grate the rind of a whole grapefruit and mix with ¾ cups of yogurt. Leave on the face for 10 minutes. Wash completely with warm water.

Honey and Papaya Mask

Blend 2 tablespoons of honey and a half cup of mashed ripe papaya into a paste, then leave the mixture on your skin for up to 20 minutes.

Expected Results and After Care

Using these masks once a week over a period of several months can results in lighter, tighter and fresher looking skin due the antioxidant effects of vitamin C and mild peeling effects of the milk based ingredients.

As the masks are used and the old skin layers are replaced by new cells the areas of darker pigmentation should lessen in most cases.

It's also important to use sunblock and limit exposure to sunlight to protect the new skin layers and to keep those fresh new skin cells from developing too much pigmentation again.

For serious pigmentation problems or for faster results natural face masks may not be powerful enough. In these cases there are products such as Obagi Clear and Obagi Tretinoin that use chemical solutions to alter pigmentation at the cellular level.

These products can have side effects such as redness and peeling but they're also very effective at quickly resolving stubborn spots or uneven skin tone issues.

Shoulder Impingement Surgery - Nothing To Worry About

Having relatively recently, undergone subacromial decompression surgery I thought that I should write about my experience to help ease any worries of other people who are anticipating a similar operation.

A shoulder impingement can come about for a variety of reasons and the treatment will vary depending on the cause of the injury.

Within the shoulder there is a narrow passage, known as the subacromial space, that runs between the head of the upper arm bone or humerus and a part of the shoulder blade known as the acromion.

Through this channel run the tendons of the supraspinatus muscle. The Supraspinatus is one of the four muscles that make up the rotator cuff which pull the arm into the shoulder joint, to stabilize the joint and help with rotational movement of the arm.

Normally the tendon can slide back and forth through the channel without difficulty. When you suffer from a shoulder impingement the channel narrows making it difficult for the tendon to move freely, resulting in pinching or an impingement of the tendon as we move our arm.

This could be due to an injury that makes the tendon become inflamed, it might be down to changes in posture caused by the aging process or it can be caused by bone spurs growing on the underside of the acromion, which can make the acromial space narrower.

However it is caused, it is a very painful condition that will simply get worse in time. The impingement causes friction, which in turn causes swelling, worsening the impingement. A vicious circle of inflammation and pain with your joint getting weaker and more painful with each passing day.

There are a number of non surgical treatments for shoulder impingement which can be tried before using surgery. Most shoulder impingements can be cured or at least improved significantly without surgical intervention.

Prior to surgery I had tried anti-inflammatory drugs and even a course of steroid injections without success, so my doctor suggested surgery.

My surgery day arrived and I went to the local hospital on a Friday morning. My surgeon explained that the surgery would last around about an hour. He would make two or three small cuts each side of my shoulder. He would then be able to insert an Arthroscope into the incisions to inspect the shoulder joint and confirm the diagnosis.

He would then shave away a small amount of bone from the bottom of the acromion to increase the subacromial space and release the impingement. While he was in there, he would inspect the shoulder joint and do any minor repairs at the same time. It all sounded very straight forward... and it was. All went well. Ninety minutes after going under the anaesthetic I woke up to find my wife seated at my bedside reading a newspaper, feigning indifference.

A while later the surgeon called in to say that he had made three incisions. Two were for the standard operation, and the third was in order to repair the labrum which was slightly frayed. Providing that I had recovered from the anaesthetic, I could go home later that day.

I wore a sling for the first couple of days but it was suggested that I needed to keep my arm as mobile as I could. I was also given some simple exercises to do after the weekend. I was booked in to see a physiotherapist a few days later

That first night at home was a little difficult because my shoulder was quite bruised and sore from the operation but I was prescribed some painkillers which dealt with the pain and allowed me to get a good night's sleep.

Surprisingly, I was able to return to work the following Monday without any side effects and managing to use my arm reasonably well. My shoulder joint, which had hurt for months, was much better. The relief from the pain of the impingement was almost immediate. I started physical therapy exercises that week and within just six felt that my shoulder was almost as good as new.

I was lucky, my recuperation period was much quicker than average. Recovery from this operation usually takes anything from two to six months. How committed you are to your physiotherapy regime will have a large impact on how long it takes to get better. Exercises are normally aimed at strengthening the rotator cuff muscles. You will begin with gentle low resistance exercises to maintain mobility, and then gradually increase resistance to strengthen the muscles.

Rotator cuff decompression surgery is successful in improving shoulder movement and relieving pain in more than ninety percent of cases. If it's offered to you as a treatment for a shoulder impingement, grab it with your one good arm.

Importance of Adequate Water Consumption

With all of the different drink options out on the market these days, water is usually the last resort option for most people. We are made up of about 66% water, making it the most essential nutrient to our bodies; however, it is one of the least consumed beverages for most.

Our bodies replace about 2 ½ quarts of water each day, therefore, we need to consume an adequate amount of water each day to function properly. Without sufficient water intake, many important functions of our bodies suffer. Water aids in the digestion and absorption process of food, regulates body temperature and blood circulation, carries nutrients and oxygen to the cells in the body, aids in removing harmful toxins, lubricates joints to help with joint movement, protects our tissues and organs, as well as helps with the weight loss process. Dehydration can have detrimental effects on the body, so it is very important to maintain a regular flow of fluids in the body all day.

Without adequate water, our bodies suffer in many different areas. Here are examples of other negative effects inadequate water consumption may have on our bodies:

  • Heartburn

  • Constipation

  • Joint pain

  • Arthritis due to dehydrated joints

  • Shock and damage to the spinal cord as it is also used to protect the organs

  • Weight gain due to the liver's inability to metabolize fat

  • Stomach pain and ulcers

  • Back pain

  • Dizziness

  • Disorientation and confusion

How much water should you be drinking?

In order to determine how much water (in ounces) you should be consuming each day, you must take your weight and divide it by 2. If you weigh 150 pounds, then you should be drinking 75 ounces of water each day. The more you weigh, the more water you should drink, as well as the more you exercise, the more you should be drinking. During exercise, the average person loses roughly 27.4 to 47.3 ounces of fluid through perspiration; therefore it is very important to keep hydrated. Also, warm water has been shown to absorb more quickly into the system than cold water, so no need for ice!

Finally, to live a healthy lifestyle, water consumption is essential! Because water is needed for so many different bodily functions, without it we will shut down. Also, don't just drink when you're thirsty. When your body is telling you that it's thirsty, that usually means it has needed fluids for a while, so it is best to continually drink small amounts of water all throughout the day. Drinking water consistently each day can keep you healthy and feeling great!

Increase Metabolism Using These 7 Proven Ideas

Dieting is not a good way to increase your metabolism. If you want to find a healthy way to increase your body metabolism, dieting and weight loss pills are not the answer. Most people don't stick to a diet anyway and in fact most people see little success dropping weight. The result is they feel distressed and defeated with no long-term positive results.

Here is the answer you have been waiting for. Put these seven proven tips for increasing metabolism into practice immediately and start to notice changes for a healthier and hotter you.

1. Enjoying a good nights sleep is one of the most significant steps toward getting the energy to ramp up that metabolism. There have been scientific studies that demonstrate people getting 4 or less hours of sleep may have slower metabolic rates as compared to individuals who get 8 hours of sleep per night. There is some variability naturally among people, but most experts advise getting at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. After a short time you will be able to determine what is best for your body.

2. Some studies show that as we get into the later afternoon and early evening our metabolism tends to slow down. Consequently, to ensure that you do burn up more calories, it's wise to do some late day or evening walking or a few other physical exercises that will assist you to raise your heart rate and burn off more calories. Building lean muscles can help you burn even more calories for a longer time period. If you want to take advantage of some of those additional calorie burning periods, try weight lifting exercises for good results. Be watchful not to exercise too late in the night so as to affect your sleep.

3. Get more mobility in your life. As you become more active you will burn more calories and raise metabolism. One idea could be to walk to some of the places you go rather than taking the car. You can start to make steady progress by adjusting a few of your routines. A few of these changes will come easy, while others will take longer to make the adjustments. Some of these changes may be simple ideas such as taking the stairs instead of riding the elevator, walking instead of riding, or partaking in physical exercises such as weight lifting. You could even do a few pushups instead of sitting watching TV. This is just a start and I will bet that you will come up with many more suggestions for changing your activity level as well.

4. When planning meals, try to incorporate more protein and healthy fats into your diet. Reducing carbohydrate intake, especially from snack foods and soda is very important. One benefit of eating more protein is its ability to stabilize insulin levels in the bloodstream. To avoid that big let-down you get sometimes after eating high carb meals, try eating more healthy fats from such foods as nuts, avacados, and olive oil in salad dressings.

5. A lot of people think by skipping meals they are cutting down their caloric intake and therefore will lose weight. This is not a healthy way to shed pounds or help increase your metabolism. In fact, your metabolism will slow down and make you add fat. Your body thinks you are starving and takes action by making fat and storing it for future useEating 6 meals spaced out during the day and paying attention to smaller portions and healthy food choices, is a much healthier approach. Weight loss and enhanced metabolism will be the biggest benefits of this smaller portion and more frequent meal plan.

6. Drink a few glasses of ice water throughout the day. Not only does your body require the water to make sure you maintain proper digestion, but you can burn more calories warming the ice water to body temperature. Water is essential for detoxifying your system and maintaining metabolic balances for all your organs. Staying properly hydrated will keep you energized and help you maintain optimal health.

7. Try adding raw juices from fresh fruits and vegetable to your diet. You could even go so far as to try juice fasting or going on a juice diet for a few days. This may be over the top for some people, but definitely adding juices from fresh produce will increase metabolism and help to detoxify your system. You also get the added benefits of increased antioxidants and the vitamins and minerals that are found in these fresh fruits and veggies. Using a juicer is the ideal way to accomplish this and then just get creative or purchase a juice recipe book to give you some good ideas for some refreshing juice drinks.

There is no simple magic formula to help you increase metabolism and lose weight. However by applying all or some of these methods you will see noticeable changes for a healthier you.

The Benefits Of Going To An Orthopaedic Clinic

An average orthopaedic health facility brings surgical and medical expertise to patients. Such a clinic usually offers an all-in-one solution for anyone's orthopaedic-related problems. Other than providing diagnostic and radiology services, these clinics similarly offer acupuncture and physiotherapy complementary services. They also supply surgical and medical solutions for those suffering from arthritis in the hips, knees and joints.

A good orthopaedic clinic is more than ready to offer 24-hour emergency assistance. Patients with any orthopaedic-related injury could go to such a clinic and have access to specialists. Take note that health screening is extremely important in the early detection of diseases and conditions which could cause death or disability. Also, do be aware of the fact that stress and a lifestyle associated with modern unhealthy living could have a negative impact on health.

The best orthopaedic facilities offer personalised treatment. Their goal is to enhance your well-being as well as improve your own knowledge on your personal health. Screening services are ideal for corporate organisations and individuals. Remember that you have to be responsible for how you take care of your well-being. Do have yourself evaluated in order to halt any possible health risks. Expect an individualised detailed medical report from an orthopaedic clinic. This will then be reviewed while you are in a private consultation with your preferred doctor.

Pain management is also addressed by such clinics. A few of these ailments include neck/shoulder/arm pain, musculoskeletal pain, back/leg pain. whiplash injuries, work-related injuries, sports injuries, chronic post-surgical pain, arthritic pain, fibromyalgia, spinal cord injury, phantom limb pain, peripheral nerve pain, spasticity complex regional pain syndrome and HIV-related pain.

However, though these clinics are more than willing to provide extensive services for patients experiencing these physical discomfort, there are cases where severe problems are evident which not even the most intensive therapies might not be able to fully relieve. This could similarly apply in cases where there is neglect or when a physical condition has been left to degenerate to a serious state. When this happens, it is a must for patients to consider procedures which are invasive.

A few of the surgeries include Slipped Disc Replacement, Knee Replacement, Nucleoplasty, Bunion Corrections, Hip Replacement, Shoulder Operation. Also, there are numerous orthopaedic surgeons all of whom differ in experience, skill and sub-specialty. It is a fact that it might be difficult and confusing to select the proper orthopaedic surgeon for your case. Also, do not forget that cost could similarly be a contributing factor specially when you select private specialists. If you want to find the doctor that is suitable for your specific condition, do research and locate those which are experts in their field.

Searching for a singapore sports clinic is always a tough task for foreigners.
Now you can always go to a tested singapore orthopaedic clinic any moment you like.

Facial Skin Care Tips for Teenage Girls

As your daughter hits puberty and become a teenager, facial skin care becomes a very important factor for them and it can affect their self-esteem.

Tweens (12) and young teens (13-15) today, are using makeup more and more. As a mom it is important to reiterate less is more and classy is not trashy. Obviously, every parent has their own rules and some may not allow their teenage daughters to wear makeup while others do. We did not allow ours to wear it until she was 14-and even then, it was VERY light and no mascara until she was 16! If you allow your daughter to wear make up, it is important to teach them HOW to wear it, and take care of their skin.

Teenager girls love to share things-especially clothes and makeup. Make sure they learn not to share makeup and to always use clean applicators when applying it. Keep with the rule of no double dipping as that will contaminate the product and could cause eye infections.

Teenage skin can change dramatically as they head deeper and deeper into puberty. Their skin becomes oilier and pimples start appearing. Although it's normal for teens to go through this phase, it's embarrassing to many and it lowers their self-esteem and causes self-consciousness.

Facial skin care tips to prevent pimples and keep your teenage daughter's skin looking great

It's never a good idea to pop pimples because it can cause deeper problems like infection and scarring. Popping pimples will aggravate the skin more and will be more noticeable than if you left it alone.

Wash your face at least twice a day with a facial cleanser and warm water. Use circular motions with your fingertips and don't apply a lot of pressure. Avoid scrubbing the face as it'll damage and irritate the skin.

Always remove makeup before going to bed.

Avoid touching your face with your hands. Your nails can harbor a lot of germs and if you're picking your face, you can spread bacteria.

Keep your hair clean and away from your face. Oils and dirt in your hair can clog your skin.

Protect your face from the sun. Use a moisturizer that also contains SPF. For some teens, the sun can make the acne worse.

Watch what you eat and drink. Junk foods or certain foods and soda can trigger pimple outbreaks. Drink more water as it flushes out the bad stuff in your body.

If your teenager is suffering from bad acne, it's best to seek advice from a dermatologist.

Uncover the Facts About TMJ

Teeth grinding is a habit that can turn into a disorder when not taken care of properly. One of these complications is the temporomandibular joint or TMJ problems. It is a disorder that is involved with the inflammation of the temporomandibular joint. This joint is responsible for connecting the mandible to the skull, and is jointly responsible for the opening and closing of the jaw. Without it, speaking, eating and other activities associated with mouth movement are not possible. That is why problems with this joint can cause serious disabilities to an individual.

TMJ problems can be caused by a number of reasons. As stated above, teeth grinding can lead to temporomandibular joint disorder or TMD. In fact, TMD is one of the most serious consequences of teeth grinding. This is because teeth grinding can damage the muscles and joints surrounding the teeth and the jaw. An individual is said to be developing TMD from teeth grinding if he wakes up in the morning with an aching ear or jaw. Any damage or trauma to the jaw can also lead to the disorder. Like other bones in the body, when this joint gets damaged, it will be inflamed. Damaged bones take at least 2-4 months to heal. When the joint does not heal correctly, it can deform the temporomandibular joint, causing TMD. Activities that distort the jaw and the upper body can also lead to the condition. An example of this is frequent usage of telephones and awkward sleeping positions.

When TMD is suspected, the individual can exhibit a number of symptoms. The most common symptom of TMD is headache, accounting to 80% of the patients. This headache is accompanied by facial pain, aggravated by movement of the jaw. This can be explained by the damage sustained by the joint. When the joint is damaged, the trigeminal nerve can be compromised as well. This nerve is responsible for the movement of the jaws and the ability of the face to feel touch. Ear pain is also common to affected individuals.

The temporomandibular joint is located right in front of the ear, so pain in this area is very likely. Clicking sounds can also be heard when the mouth is being opened and closed, indicating misalignment of the joint. A grating sensation can also be felt if the temporomandibular joint is felt while moving the mouth. To confirm the diagnosis, the individual will undergo an X-ray to identify any abnormalities in the joint. The physician will also conduct a physical assessment of the teeth and jaws to gauge the extent of the disorder.

When a diagnosis has been made, the individual with a TMJ disorder will undergo treatment. Treatment modalities include physical therapy, medications to relieve pain, correction of the alignment of the joint and stress management. All of these interventions are geared toward the relief of the symptoms of TMD, correction of the factors that caused the disease and treatment of other factors that aggravate the disorder. Treatment can be long and difficult, so a lot of patience is needed from the individual.

Lymphedema Pumps and Indications for Use

What is Lymphedema?

Lymphedema is a condition whereby the lymph fluid accumulates in the tissue or in the cavities of the body. Lymphedema normally takes place due to a blockage of some type that impedes the normal flow of lymphatic fluids. Lymphedema may be categorized in two ways, primary and secondary lymphedema.

The reasons for primary lymphedema are quite often unknown since there is no proven and specific etiology in most cases. The causative agents in secondary lymphedema can be multiple and diverse. It may be caused by removal of lymph channels by a specific disease process, or by a defect which was present at birth.

Without treatment, lymphedema can cause multiple other problems that must be resolved. Lymphedema can be problematic, often creating open areas or ulcerations on the body, or may preclude walking well due to swelling of the affected parts. Treatment is indicated when the swelling reaches a point that is causes discomfort or undesirably affects the body in some way, or as a preventive measure to preclude those effects.

What are Your Treatment Options for Lymphedema?

Treatment of lymphedema may take many forms. It can include compression hose, may require bandaging, or other means of compression. Medications may be used to help you to manage your lymphedema. It may even, in some very rare cases, be treated surgically.

The typical treatment will begin with oral medications, in combination with compression garments that will sometimes be effective in managing less severe cases of lymphedema. If those measures are not successful, more aggressive treatment of the condition will become necessary.

Most often, the treatment for lymphedema when other, lesser measures have failed will be the use of a lymphedema pump.

How Do Lymphedema Pumps Work?

Lymphedema can be managed quite well in many cases by the use of lymphedema pumps. They use as a methodology, the compression of the affected area. This is done by compressed air which is piped into a device which fits over the affected area. The rationale for the treatment is to push the edema into the more central area of the body where it may be uptaken by the lymph system.

In most cases, the device which is used on the body, known as a cuff, will be shaped as the arm or leg. Compressed air enters the cuff and puts pressure on the area. The compressed air may be used in one or two ways, depending on the device. In some lymphedema pumps, the pressure is constant and standard in every area on which the cuff lies. In other varieties of lymphedema pumps, the pressure on the affected area will be intermittent.

Are All Lymphedema Pumps the Same?

Individual pumps will offer different optional items such as design of cuff, as well as pressure available for use from the pump.

Once you have achieved some relief from the use of the lymphedema pump, most physicians recommend that you maintain that by the use of a compression garment.

Cosmetic Procedures and Botox Injections

Botox is a very popular cosmetic product; so much so that it is considered the very embodiment of cosmetic procedures. However, not many people in Brooklyn know a lot about the Botox injection and its benefits and side effects. Let's take a look at all the information you would need to know before you consider going for Botox injections:

What is Botox?

Botox is, in simple words, a type of protein that is derived from the botulism bacteria. Its generic name is onabotulinum toxin A, but it is more commonly called botulinum toxin type A. Botox releases some chemicals that bock nerve activities across the muscles, thus temporarily reducing muscle activity and relaxing them.

Botox as a medical product

Not many people are ware of this, but Botox injections are also given medically, since its muscle relaxing ability can be used in treating certain medical conditions. Botox is prescribed and administered for treating cervical dystonia, a condition where the neck muscles spasm severely. It is also used for treating muscle spasms in the hands and arms, hyperhidrosis (severe underarm sweating), urinary incontinence and also to prevent headaches among chronic migraine patients.

Botox as a cosmetic product

As a cosmetic product, Botox can be used for treating and diminishing the following signs of aging:

· Frown lines or glabellas
· Forehead lines
· Crow's feet
· Bunny lines, which are wrinkles on the top of your nose
· Perioral lines, which are wrinkles around your mouth

Botox is administered depending on the wrinkles being treated. It can also be administered on the chin.

How are Botox injections administered?

Botox injectionsare administered into a muscle, and the procedure is carried out by a doctor or qualified medical practitioner in an office or hospital setting. If more than one injection of Botox is being administered, then each injection procedure must be separated by an interval of at least 3 months.

How much time does it take for Botox to take effect?

This depends on a number of factors, including your medical condition, the area of your face being treated, the depth of wrinkles and any medicines you are talking. In some cases, Botox may start showing effects on the day of injection, while patients may see results after some time only. In any case, the full results of Botox would be visible in 10 days.

What are the side effects of Botox?

Botox is not known to cause any side effects in a majority of cases. However, like any other form of medication, Botox too may cause some side effects in extremely rare cases. The botulinum toxin that is used in Botox may spread to other areas of the body, which may cause certain side effects. As a result, you may see some side effects of Botox occurring even after several weeks of having it administered. It is important that you keep your doctor involved for the whole period while the botulinum is still in your body.

You have to talk to your doctor before you take Botox injections. Never take Botox injections from two different doctors in Brooklyn. Your doctor must be aware of any medical conditions you have, especially if you have any muscle disorders.

Did You Know These 4 Aspects of Infection Control?

Infection control encompasses all the factors that are related with the containment of infection in any healthcare facility. Due to the perpetual possibility of contracting infections in such a set-up, infection control needs to constantly on its toes looking out for possibilities of infection due to its patients, staff or any other reason within the facility. Thus infection control should be considered not a concept but a process, which is always working in the background.

The following 4 points will tell you about key matters concerning infection control.

• Standard Measures: Whether you merely suspect a patient of having a certain infection or have it confirmed on paper, there are some standard measures that must be adhered to while dealing with all the patients in any kind of healthcare facility. This includes wearing personal protection equipment like gloves, masks and gowns at all times. Also you must know how to handle used equipment whether they are to be sterilized for reuse or to be disposed of safely. Environmental cleanliness is very important and several common surfaces like the furniture and floors must be kept clean with the help of a disinfectant. And finally hand hygiene must be maintained at all times, which is a very basic yet one of the most effective ways to prevent spread of infections.

• Isolation: A patient may be required to be isolated if suspected of having a communicable infection. A healthcare facility must have such areas and even isolated room for particularly contagious diseases. Any staff treating such patients must wear gloves, gown and face masks, and should be visited by the required medical personnel only. Since such patients might experience loneliness, their psychological needs and physical comfort must be well looked after.

• Training and Education: Some regions have made infection control training mandatory for certain medical professionals and particular fields in the healthcare industry. Accordingly, certain recognized organizations offer standardized training to health professionals. Some training modules also award a practitioner certificate subject to particular qualifications, experience and passing the relevant examination. Such certification has to be renewed after a certain number of years to keep your skills and knowledge updated. Besides this even healthcare facilities can impart certain education to their staff about effective infection control by taking the necessary precautions during treatment and safe disposal of infected materials afterwards.

• Investigation: Investigation may be required in a healthcare facility if an infection is seen in several patients or a certain pattern is noticed. A team will be required to investigate such matter and can collect and analyze information to find out if the infection is spreading due to random factors concerning people or place or if there is an outbreak. Accordingly steps can be taken to contain the situation. Investigation also helps to avoid such infections from spreading in the future.

A healthcare facility must have policies in place to manage the above factors effectively and in a way that not only there is constant monitoring for early detection but also a mechanism to take corrective actions immediately.

Meditate in Motion Through Walking Meditation - Three Reasons to Try

What is walking meditation? Did you think meditation was just sitting and trying not to think thoughts? When you tried to sit and meditate you couldn't stop thinking. Of course there are different types of meditation but you can meditate even when you are in motion and think while you are doing it. Walking Meditation is focusing your attention on each movement you make as you walk. Let's review three reasons why to try Walking Meditation.

First, Walking Meditation makes you more mindful of what you are doing. You start to watch as you make each slight movement of your foot and touching it down. Then you pause to reflect on how you are doing it. Then you take another step and observe it in process. It sounds simple enough. Not really but worth a try. As you continue to break down each part of each step you may start to notice you sway more to the left or the right. You are slowing each part of a motion down. By paying attention to each micro-movement of what you have learned to take for granted you start to feel more.

Second, it is a way to focus your thoughts on each part of each step. Focusing your mind on your body can bring you back into the moment. Being in the moment can help you to be more aware of how your body and mind connect. Twenty steps later you become more present. Even though being present is not so bad it may be a little different at first.

Third, while you are drawing your attention to each repetition of each movement you find it harder to be distracted. You feel your body more and your concentration improves. Being more alert can help lead you to faster reactions.

Even though Walking Meditation can calm your mind, you most likely will find that it draws your attention to a few problem areas in your body. If you truly listen to what those problem areas are trying to tell you, you can extract clues from them and discover solutions before problems worsen. A little prevention before a problem becomes a disease can even save you time and energy invested in medical treatment. Or if you have an illness it can help you to manage your reactions to it. Give you back more control over your body and health.

Each person is different. What you find out for yourself may lead you in a different direction than another person. Self-awareness is about the individual but you can share your experience with confidants in your life. In the end, Walking Meditation is a tool for you to use to look deeper into yourself, manage stress, and be more present today. After you've practiced enough you can rely on it and use it anytime.

Wrinkle Reduction With Radiesse

Radiesse is a popular dermal filler product used for cosmetic purposes across the country, including Brooklyn. If you would like to know more about Radiesse, its administration procedure and other crucial information, then read on.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is an FDA approved dermal filler that is used for treating lines and wrinkles in facial skin. It is available as an injectable gel-like substance that is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres. These microspheres restore the volume in facial skin, and it also corrects nasolabial folds, smile lines and wrinkles around the mouth and nose. Apart from cosmetic purposes, Radiesse may also be used for reconstructive and therapeutic reasons for augmenting soft tissues like facial folds, wrinkles and contours.

How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse is the first ever dermal filler product that uses calcium based microsphere technology. These microspheres replace the volume to your wrinkles, sunken depressions and folds. They also stimulate collagen production in the body, thus making the skin look fuller and giving it a healthy and youthful appearance for a long time.

Radiesse treatment process

Radiesse is injected subcutaneously into the layer directly under the dermis of your skin. The injection procedure itself is complete safe, as it would be done by a qualified medical practitioner or doctor, in an office setting. If required, a local anesthetic may be applied in the area to be injected, so that you experience only minimal discomfort and pain. The site of injection would be determined by the wrinkles that are going to be treated. In general, only one dose of Radiesse would be injected. However, your doctor may schedule follow-ups at regular intervals to check if the procedure has gone well.

What is the recovery period of Radiesse?

There is no recovery period indicated for Radiesse treatment. Once you have been injected with this dermal filler, you can continue with your regular routine. You may notice mild side effects like swelling, redness, discomfort or pain, but these effects are usually transient and go away on their own.

Effects of Radiesse

Radiesse starts showing positive effects on your skin within moments after treatment is complete. Once Radiesse is fully in effect under your skin, it will remain effective for around a year, or even more in some patients. The duration of efficacy differs from patient to patient.

What are the side effects of Radiesse?

There are no serious side effects associated with this product. However, there may be certain injection related side effects like mild swelling, irritation, tenderness or bruising in the area. While these effects usually subside in a matter of hours, you should talk to your doctor if they continue or worsen.

Addition cosmetic treatment

Most cosmetic procedures combine different dermal fillers together, along with other forms of treatment like Botox and laser resurfacing. Radiesse is compatible with several other dermal fillers, and can be used as part of a complete cosmetic procedure.

The cost of Radiesse Brooklyn treatment would depend on a number of factors that vary with person to person. Some of these factors would include the person's age, gender, skin tone and type, and the presence of any medical conditions. You can visit your nearest approved Radiesse practitioner in Brooklyn to find out more about the cost for your treatment with Radiesse.

Why Are Disposable Medical Supplies Crucial?

With the population steadily increasing and the living spaces decreasing, the chances of infections and infectious diseases spreading are also on the high. Safeguarding yourself and your family from such infections is not very easy with children going to schools, you and your spouse going to office and meeting people, etc. Even though there is pretty much nothing you can do from others spreading these infections, the least you can do is protecting yourself from it. Disposable medical supplies are one such example of taking prevention against infections.

Hospitals are places where sick people are taken care of, treated and made healthy again. Ironically, hospitals are also places where infections can easily spread due to the presence of so many patients under one roof. And that is the reason there are so many infection preventive items stored there for protecting the patients and the staff. For persisting medical conditions such as diabetes, patients have to use syringes at home and such items are better used once and disposed.

Disposable medical supplies are of different types - some are meant to be used at home and some at hospitals. Some of the common items are syringes, gloves, masks, IV bags, thermometers, catheters, bags, etc. In other words, any item that has to be used on the body of the patients have to be separate and used only once and then be discarded so that if there is any infection in one patient, it does not spread to another.

Manufacturing of disposable medical supplies have to done with the best quality materials to ensure that they are safe for the patients to be used. Also, they have to be packed carefully and sealed since the patients would be using them on their body and any contact with germs or infected items have to be avoided.

Doctors, nurses and technicians in the laboratory have to take care that they use unopened and safely packed items each time they use it on each patient and dispose the items as soon as the use is over. It is the responsibility of the hospital to ensure that the staff uses only these disposable items on patients. And the responsibility of keeping oneself safe lies with the patients too. It is important that they insist on accepting only these disposable medical supplies for their use when they are in hospitals. While purchasing these products from the pharmacy, they need to ensure that they are buying sealed packets of medical supplies.

It is true that using disposable items is not exactly cheap. Initially it might appear to be expensive, but when it comes to your health it is definitely worth the cost as it ensures that you are protected from any infection or contamination and that you remain healthy always.

Kitchen Tips To Support Your Pilates Lifestyle

The kitchen plays a big part in the quality of your Pilates performance. As Joseph Pilates kindly informed us, good nutrition is of great importance to physical fitness. So I'm going to share with you now some kitchen tips that will help you reach your goals of energy, inspiration and relaxation that are involved in peak physical fitness.

Food Mixer.
What better way to start the day then with a health giving smoothie. Packed with protein, vitamins, fibre and carbohydrates, you will be well set up to start your Pilates session. You can prepare all of the ingredients the night before by adding any dry ingredients such as nuts or protein powder to your blender. Then in the morning, just slice up your fruit, add your yoghurt, milk or soya milk and give it a whiz. Commercial smoothies can contain extra empty calories with hidden sugar. You'll have complete control over what your consuming by making your own blends and you can even get a little creative and imaginative too.

Wok
It might not sound much like a healthy Pilates prop, but a wok can do wonders for your health. You can use it to prepare your workday lunch the night before, instead of being compelled to order a greasy pizza or calorie laden fast food luncheon. An example of a wok lunch is to add some olive oil to your wok, heat it up and add onions and garlic. Stir until browned and then remove and toss some carrot, cabbage and mushrooms in. Stir fry for a few minutes, add some tofu cubes then cover and steam for a minute. Add the onions and garlic back into the mix, add some sesame seeds or some nuts. Throwing in dark leafy greens will boost your vitamin C and A consumption as well as up your intake of iron and fibre. All good habits for protecting against cancer and Alzheimer's.

Hand blender
You should be eating healthily every day and keeping your body topped up with vitamins and minerals. It's easy to do if you plan in advance. One of the approaches that you can take is to use yesterday's leftovers as the base for a healthy soup. Throw in extra sliced onion, crushed garlic, some dried herbs and tinned tomatoes. A can of kidney beans can make a convenient and low-cost healthy addition. Then season to taste and whiz your hand blender to result in a delicious home-made soup full of all the good stuff that you need to perform well at your class. You could take this to work with you and heat it in the office microwave or use a flask to keep it warm until you are ready.

Pilates could be considered a way of life as so much focus is put onto the well-being of the body, spirit and mind that you will find yourself putting more consideration into your diet and healthy habits.

Taking Care of Your Lace Front Wig

For many years now, lace front wigs have been the answer to most women's hair troubles, be it a thinning hair problem or a fashion dilemma. They have been named as such because the hair strands are attached to a very fine net lace in the front portion. This lace base looks so natural and blends really well with the natural skin along the hairline. These wigs are much better than any other types of wigs because they are lightweight and do not feel hot on the head if you stay in a hot environment for a longer period. Many women consider this as a good beauty investment because it is the easiest and most fashionable way to achieve beautiful hair. But to get your money's worth, you have to take proper care of it so you can enjoy your lace wig for a long time.

Wash Carefully and Regularly: The most basic way to care for your lace front wig is to wash it on a regular basis. You have to wash it using a shampoo and conditioner that are specifically made for lace wigs. Do not use a regular shampoo that we normally use for our natural hair because it will impair the hair strands of the wig. Washing it regularly will keep all the dust and dirt from being deposited in the lace base or strands of the wig. And if you have the extra budget, you could bring your wig to a salon for some professional cleaning. Professional maintenance will ensure that you wig is rejuvenated after it is being exposed to harsh elements in the environment.

Professionals encourage taking the wig off and putting it on a wig stand while it is being washed as it allows you to clean it completely. Always use cool water in washing it; never with hot water because it impairs the very delicate lace base. And as much as possible, don't use a blow dryer on your lace front wig because it will cause the lace to shrink.

Spice it Up: Aside from a wig shampoo and conditioner, there are other wig care products that add life and beauty to your lace front wig. Oil-free shines and hair fresheners are available if you want to give your wig some more tender loving care. Hair shines will keep the wig shiny and hair fresheners are best to use after an active or sun-exposed day.

Learn the Right Moves: It is also essential for you to know how to properly attach and detach the lace front wig. In putting the wig on, you must use a safe kind of adhesive or tape. And if you must take your wig off, you must learn to do it correctly so you won't tear it apart and you could still use it again.

Use a Wig Stand: One more must-have is a wig stand; this could either be a Styrofoam or mannequin head that will hold your wig and keep it in good shape when you are not using it. Using a wig stand is also a good way to wash or style your lace front wig if you prefer to have it off. You should also brush your wig everyday but be extra careful and don't brush it rigidly. Hard brushing will cause the hair strands of the wig to break or be detached.

Find cheap lace front wigs online. The most famous are the lace front wigs for black women and the human hair lace front wigs. Visit our website and let us help you!

Oximeter Reading Interpretation

The world of home medical care products has been in the growth phase for over a decade now. As health care costs have been on the rise for many years now, more and more doctors have been supporting the idea of home health care. These doctors are not telling their patients that they should practice their own source of medicine, but rather they have been educating them on how to better monitor their health at home using various tools. As health care costs have been on the rise, the number of patients reducing their visits to the doctor or even eliminating doctors completely has been on the rise. With the best interests of patients in mind, doctors have directing patients to monitor their health to avoid any complications where ever possible. Some consider this as preventative care, and it has proven to work for many patients.

These tools available to patients at home include the standard devices such as blood pressure monitors, thermometers, and glucose monitors. Recently, a new device has been added to the list of available tools. It is an oximeter. A pulse oximeter, also known as a pulse ox, is a medical device used to measure the blood oxygen saturation levels in a patient. The reasons this data would be important to a patient are all related to respiratory illnesses such as asthma and COPD. In addition to the oxygen saturation readings, an oximeter also provides a person's heart rate. In general terms, a healthy individual should be recording oxygen saturation levels of 95 or higher. Now, it is normal for older individuals to have readings less than 95. It is when the value drops below 90, is when concerns arise. Usually when the individual's oxygen level drops below 90, he or she is put on supplemental oxygen.

Over the past decade or so, the number of respiratory illnesses in the United States has been on the rise. For this reason, the use of an oximeter has also been on the rise. In the past, an oximeter was only accessible in a clinical setting, but that has changed over the years. Now, you can get an oximeter for home use for fewer than one hundred dollars. These oximeters use infrared technology to take its readings. Federal assistance programs for medical care are in support of oximeters, because of their advantages for monitoring of health and preventative care.

VI Peel Treatments - Reviews, Results and Benefits, Cost

A chemical peel is used as a method for improving and smoothing the look and texture of the skin. The VI peel treatment is a recent innovation in the world of chemical peels and was first developed by the Vitality institute. This treatment has quickly gained popularity for its ability to heal the skin, diminish acne scars and bring back the skin's natural glow.

What is a VI Peel?

A VI peel differs from other types of chemical peels because it offers dramatic results with no pain, and very little downtime. It is made using a combination of gentle substances that don't irritate the skin, including salicyclic acid, trichloroacetic acid, microelements and vitamins. It is safe for all skin types and results are typically seen after only one treatment.

Reviews of the VI Peel

Many people have left glowing reviews about it, as they report that their skin is more vibrant and healthy looking than ever before. They experience no pain and some do say that there is some itching that occurs in the first couple of days after the treatment, but no discomfort.

Results and Benefits

After treatment, the skin's appearance will improve and lines and wrinkles will be diminished. Acne scars will also be less prominent. Dark blotches and spots will disappear and environmental effects such as sun damage will also diminish. Overall, skin will be smoother, brighter and more vibrant looking. It may also help to remove precancerous cells.

Loving Cath Kidston And Her Amazing Products

Who would have thought that brightly painted junk furniture and hand embroidered tea towels will make it big not only in London but also in other parts of the world. This "glorified junk shop" that started selling vintage fabric and wall papers in 1993 was the brainchild of Catherine Isabel Kidston or more popularly known as Cath Kidston. Her own prints and products are inspired by the traditional English country house in which she was raised.

Cath Kidston was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 37. It was good that it was detected early unlike her parents who both died from cancer. As soon as she recovered she realised that life is too short not to do something that you really want. Thus, she gave up her interior design work and invested £15,000 of her own saving to put up her first shop. One of her first designs was an ironing board cover with distinctive floral print to purposely put up a jolly mood for everyone while doing household chores. This has come to epitomize the Cath Kidston look.

As her products became popular and totally swept the gloomy retailer trend, it steadily expanded to several varieties which include home wares, women's fashion and accessories, children's clothing and toiletries. Later on Cath Kidston partnered several companies like Nokia to design some of their mobile phone models, with Roberts Radio, and with Tesco for their eco-friendly shopping bag made from plastic bottles which were used to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Cure Foundation.

Her design of pastel polka dots and floral prints depict the image of the past where housewives enjoyed afternoon tea, knitting and baking. This must have had a nostalgic effect on modern housewives who were busy working outside as it gives them the feeling of a blissful home where everything seems to be perfect.

Cath Kidston totally agrees that her products fulfil the need for value and meaning of a simpler life. The present economic crisis makes people nervous to look forward and seeing the aesthetic design of the 1930's and 1940's that adorn their home creates an aura of comfort and cosiness of the past.

Ironically, Cath Kidston admitted that she is not a domestic goddess herself. She said her partner is lucky if he gets a takeaway and that she is a complete slob who never gets out of her tracksuits on weekends.

Even though she is good in designing children's apparel, she does not have kids of her own. She disclosed that her playfulness comes from her character which she described as "not being very grown-up herself".

In spite of the contradiction from the personal life of Cath Kidston with her well loved designs it cannot be denied that her products touched the hearts of many housewives. This is the main factor why Cath Kidston works hard to ensure that all her products are pretty, practical and affordable so her shoppers will find a reason to be cheerful in spite of the dwindling economic condition.

Heathcote-Ivory.com offer a range of luxury products including a first class selection of toiletries range designed by Cath Kidston including Wild Rose, Bluebell, Honeysuckle and many more.

How You Can Gain Digestive Health Naturally And Feel Terrific

Your digestive health will determine your overall physical and emotional health. This is because your digestion system is also the basis of your body's immune system. When your digestion becomes unbalanced, this can open the door to a multitude of health complications that include, gut infections, stomach pain, bloating, fatigue and constipation - to name a few.

These are the first warning signs that your body is trying to tell you - something is wrong. If these signs continue to be ignored and your digestion system remains unbalanced, more serious health problems can occur. These can take the form of GERD, irritable bowel syndrome and colitis.

Are You Treating Your Digestion With Respect

Many of us do not treat our digestive system with much respect. We tend to throw all sorts of foods, from high fat foods and sugary drinks, down our throats and expect our digestion to get on with it. It does its best, but there comes a time when this lifestyle begins to overwhelm our digestion and kinks start to occur. These create symptoms that we easily dismiss as living a busy lifestyle or a lack of sleep.

Fortunately, if you can change your habits, and implement digestive health strategies into your daily life, you can make a huge difference to how you feel physically and emotionally.

We all know that our immune system is very important when it comes to defending our bodies from infections, viruses and diseases. When our immune system is weakened, exposure to outside invaders will increase. Medical science is researching ways of boosting the immune system in order to treat serious diseases such as cancer. By doing so, the current treatment methods of killing bad as well as healthy cells can become a thing of the past.

OTC Drugs And Remedies Are Only Treating The Symptoms

If you, like many people, have suffered symptoms such as heartburn or excessive stomach acid, you have probably opted for over the counter solutions to relieve them. In the past, many of these OTC drugs required a prescription, but nowadays that is not the case. One of the most popular examples are antacid medications.

These work on the basis of neutralising your stomach acid and rebalancing your ph balance. However, antacids can also neutralise too much of the hydrochloric acid in your stomach. Sufficient amounts are needed for breaking down and digesting the food you eat. Undigested food in the gut can become toxic - making your symptoms worse.

I am a great believer in caring for your body naturally, and a natural way of acquiring improved digestive health is with the help of prebiotics and probiotics. These two health promoting substances rebalance your digestive tract by increasing the amount of good bacteria and decreasing the amount of bad bacteria in your gut. As your digestion system rebalances, your immune system becomes stronger, enabling you to fight off viruses and disease.

Reversing years of bad eating habits will take time. You probably will not see immediate results. You just need to be patient and let the prebiotics and probiotics do their work. However, many people have experienced improvements in just a few days, especially with improved bowel movements and being more regular. This is not surprising, because the increased number of friendly bacteria is breaking down and absorbing the food more efficiently. In this way, toxic waste is excreted from the body more rapidly - it does not get the time to fester and become toxic.

Digestive Health Naturally

There are a number of ways that you can attain digestive health. For example, digestive enzymes are very important for efficient digestion. Enzymes such as protease and the antioxidant enzyme peroxidise can be found in raw foods. You have the option of taking whole food supplements. Super foods such as chlorella and wheat grass are popular ways to strengthen your digestion. These can be easily mixed with water or juice.

My personal preference is the good old kiwifruit. This little guy contains high levels of vitamin C and minerals such as potassium. It also happens to be rich in prebiotics and phenolic compounds that aid digestion.

I like to eat a kiwi with either kefir or a low fat natural probiotic yogurt. This helps me to be regular. If this is too bland for you - become creative and add extra fruit. Blueberries taste great and are high in antioxidants which help to strengthen your immune system.

Sean is a strong opponent of natural health strategies which he applies in his own life to improve and balance his digestion system.

Small and Trivial Things That Leave You Feeling Tired All Day

Why is do people worry so much whenever they feel tired? The reason for this is probably because they have been feeling tired all day. For many people, tiredness is just a common thing being experienced at the end of the day because of work. However, this is not the case for others. Some people out there feel tired from the moment they wake up in the morning up until they go to bed at night. This condition is not normal and can be caused by many things. In this article, we are going to discuss the small and trivial things that may be causing tiredness.

PILLOW - Did you know that having the wrong choice of pillow can make you feel tired? That's right! If you do not have a proper sleeping partner at night, it will be difficult for you to get good sleep and this will make you feel tired the next day. If your pillow is too soft, it may be a little bit uncomfortable for you to sleep because it feels like you do not have any pillow. If the pillow is too hard, it will be difficult to rest your head and it will leave you restless all night. Your pillow should not be too soft but still firm enough to hold its shape. Don't be afraid to try different types of pillow and choose that one that suits your best.

TV - Did you know that TV can make you relax but also tired at the same time? After working, a lot of people want to unwind first before sleeping and most of them do it by watching some of their favorite TV shows. Watching TV is a really relaxing pastime. However, watching too much TV especially before going to bed can make you tired because it can disrupt your natural sleeping routine. The light and radiation from the TV may deceive the brain into thinking that it is still day time. Because of this, you will not be able to sleep early. This will cause you to have shorter sleep especially if you have work the next day. Not having enough sleep is the primary cause of tiredness. What you can do is avoid watching too much TV at night. Limit your hours in front of the screen before you go to bed. This also goes the same for computers and other devices that emit light such as mobile phones and tablets.

ILLNESS - When you are sick, it is normal to feel tired all day. This is because the body does not have much energy left to do other activities as it is concentrating in fighting the viruses or bacteria that are causing your sickness. Illnesses such as common cold or fever make the immune system weak therefore the body does not have much resistance to these foreign bodies. As a result, the body's energy is pushed to limits in order to fight the viruses. This is the reason why you always want to sleep and just stay on the bed whenever you are sick.
