Hydrate With Carbohydrates

People who want to lose weight often have the mistaken belief that carbohydrates will make them gain weight. On the contrary though, they can even help you reach your desired weight.

Carbohydrates are composed of sugar molecules made out of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They are commonly found in starches, fibres and sugars. You can also find them in beans, potatoes, pastas, sodas, breads and milk. Here are some tips on how they can help you lose weight.

Take Slow Carbohydrates
In the past, carbohydrates used to be classified as simple or complex. Recent studies show that this is not accurate because they can also be classified as slow-absorbing, which can either be sweet or starchy. Slow-absorbing carbs are your best bet when you want to lose weight because they are digested and absorbed longer. They make you feel full and reduce your hunger cravings. You can get them from grain breads, pastas, oats, bran cereals, plums, pears, fruit loafs, apples and grapes, among others.

Go Low
If you want to lose weight, you should not totally eliminate carbs from your diet. Rather, you should have a low-carbohydrate diet. You can achieve this by eating whole grains, vegetables and fruits daily. They contain lots of vitamins, minerals and nutrients which you can't do without. Taking them with healthy fats and proteins can even reduce risks of heart diseases and diabetes.

So how low should you go? Experts advise that you take 120 grams of carbs if you're on a standard 1,200-calorie diet. If you want a higher intake, you can have 150 grams of carbs per day.

Pick Good Carbs
It all boils down to picking good carbohydrates. Picking the good ones can help you lose weight, avoid chronic illnesses and please your eyes and palate. Good carbs can be found in brown rice, wheat bread and whole grain pasta, among others. Here are some ways on how you can use them:

    • Take steel cut oats for hot cereals. For cold ones, pick one that has whole wheat, whole oats or other whole grains. You can try muesli, porridge, wheat flakes, wheat flake biscuits or bran flakes. They're easy and quick to prepare and their fiber content can help your bowel movement.

    • In lieu of potatoes, eat brown rice, hulled barley, wheat berries, bulgur or millet. If you must eat potatoes and rice which are fast digesting, limit yourself to one medium potato or half cup of rice.

    • For lunch and snacks, take whole grain breads or rye loaf. Having a slice or two daily can help you feel full and avoid unhealthy snacks.

    • Beans are good sources of slow carbs.

    • Take whole wheat pasta. If you find it too chewy, you can try one that's made with half white flour and half whole wheat flour.

    • Avoid junk carbohydrates found in biscuits, chips, soft drinks, cakes, and sweets etc.

    • Go for starchy vegetables like corn, sweet potato, lentils, carrots, chick peas or peas.

  • Take two pieces of whole fruit per day. Avoid excessive fruit juice intake since they are often too sweet with their fibre content removed.

Diabetes Starts With Weak Flabby Muscles

Not very many people understand the importance of stable blood sugar levels. They are the very foundation of good health. Constantly high or wildly fluctuating levels can inflict enormous hidden damage to organs, tissues and cells that come into contact with the excess glucose and the high levels of insulin produced to bring the level down. This damage can have serious long-term negative effects on health that can shave years or even decades off life-span.

We used to believe that only diabetics had to worry about their blood sugar levels but this is no longer so. Even if you are not diagnosed as a diabetic, you may still be on the borderline and poor blood sugar control can have a devastating effect on your health. The longer the time it remains out of control the shorter your life. You can even be in a pre-diabetic state for years and continue to progress to full blown diabetes without even realizing it.

High blood sugar levels occur when your body is unable to use the sugar in the bloodstream. The body produces insulin to help move the sugar into the muscle cells to be used for energy. But if the muscle cells cannot use it they resist it and do not allow it to be taken up so it travels around the body affecting all the organ systems and doing damage to everything it touches.

The reasons why the muscle cells cannot take up the energy is the fact that only eight out of ten people use their muscles enough with proper strengthening exercise. Our modern sedentary world allows our muscles to wither and shrink which means their energy needs are way below what they should be.

Fifty odd years ago and beyond this modern day problem that has now become epidemic hardly was ever heard about. Now it is becoming a major global health threat that is the fourth leading cause of death in our society. But you actually do not die from diabetes you die from the damage it does to sensitive tissues that trigger other disease.

You may not realize it if you have a low amount of lean muscle tissue and your body composition (muscle/fat ratio) has become unbalanced you have an increased risk for glucose resistance which increases your risk of diabetes. Without healthy toned muscle from proper physical activity there is simply nowhere for the sugar converted from the food you eat to go

So the very easy thing to do to rectify this situation is to get started on a proper strength training program to help prevent or even manage diabetes. Your muscle tissue is the bodys largest reservoir requiring glucose uptake from the blood so its strength and health is paramount in controlling this deadly disease and weak flabby muscles will not do anything to help you avoid it.

This is such a simple thing to do to help your body keep itself healthy. Just 2-3 sessions each week of proper strength training exercise with some effort put into them will go a very long way to helping you get and keep your blood sugar levels under control and reduce damage. It does not really matter if you do not like to exercise - that is irrelevant - it is non-negotiable and a far better option than taking toxic drugs which do nothing to fix the problem up at base level.

You have the power to reverse pre-diabetes and banish it from your life forever and the place to start is your exercise program. As a bonus you will get multiple other health benefits that will surprise and delight you as they show themselves and you will never want to stop.

Causes of Incontinence in Older People

It is important to understand that incontinence is not a normal part of the aging process. However, statistics show that seniors are more at risk of developing incontinence from a variety of different factors. This makes it crucial to determine why a senior is developing incontinence if symptoms begin to emerge. While incontinence alone can be a serious problem to deal with, many times there are underlying causes that can be treated. This can at times reduce or even eliminate the incontinence. Caregivers should consider seeking out diagnosis for incontinence, in order to help them manage it properly.

Incontinence is not a normal part of aging. However, older people are vulnerable and more at risk of developing incontinence. If an elderly person becomes incontinent, it is important to find out the cause - many of the causes of incontinence in the elderly can be cured or at least managed.

There are many different cause of incontinence. Here are some of the most common causes of incontinence-

• Urinary Tract Infection
• Limited mobility and dexterity problems
• Obesity
• Tumor in women or enlarged prostrate in men
• Neurological Conditions such as Stroke, Dementia or Parkinsons disease
• Poorly controlled Diabetes
• Reduction in estrogen in women following menopause
• Some medications
• Weak Pelvic Floor Muscles in both men and women
• Respiratory Ailments with Chronic Coughing

Some caregivers and doctors accept the fact that many of the elderly become incontinence. This is unfortunate since many times incontinence can be treated. While not all incontinence can be completely treated, most can be reduced to a far more manageable level. If you are a caregiver for an elderly loved one, who is showing signs of incontinence, then it is important to talk to them. You need to let them know that, with help from the doctor, this problem can often be cured and can always be managed. It is important to indicate that you will work together to find a solution for this problem.

One of the first steps is to contact the seniors health care provider. His or her physician should be able to evaluate the senior and determine what types of testing needs to be done. It is important to let the senior know that this can be a time consuming process, since the health care provider will need to rule out certain medical conditions, before making a final diagnosis. It can also be helpful for the caregiver to check with the doctors office, to inquire what information the senior and the caregiver, should bring to the evaluation.

If the seniors health care provider wants to write off the incontinence as a natural process of aging, the caregiver should consider this as a red flag. As stated above incontinence is not a natural process of aging, and if a senior is seeking treatment, then he or she should see a health care provider who is willing to acknowledge and seek out the cause of the incontinence.

Reverse Your Water Loss

Everybody already knows that it's important to stay hydrated and to drink lots of water throughout the day. Many of us do not, however, keep to those commands and end up tired, stressed out, and dehydrated by the end of the day. You could spend lots of money on bottled water, but it would be a fruitless cause. Why? Bottled water has been stripped of all of its nutrients beforehand, leaving it void of anything that could help you. Once inside its plastic bottle, it could also lead to contaminants in your drink. That is not beneficial at ALL in your attempts to stay properly hydrated.

Our bodies are made up of about two thirds water. We can't last long without water; in fact, we can last much longer without food. All of the major systems in our bodies need water in order to function properly. This means it is necessary to drink and stay hydrated for protection against illnesses and sickness. We should be drinking about 8-10 cups of water a day, but most don't even consume half of that in a day. Most people are just too busy or don't even think about it, and end up drinking acidic, dehydrating things like sports drinks, sodas, and coffee instead. This leaves you parched and will usually not do what they claim they do, like quenching your thirst.

We also lose water all the time and may not even be aware of it; this makes it even more essential that we continuously hydrate ourselves during the day. In fact, on average, one cup of water is lost just by breathing. Add this to other normal functions such as urinating and sweating, and you will suffer the consequences of water loss.

Now you may be thinking if bottled water is not the answer, what about drinking straight from the tap? It's cheaper, and definitely more convenient than going out to the grocery store and buying loads of bottled water. Tap is even less acidic than bottled water, but don't be ready to jump on its bandwagon just yet. Since 2004, about 315 pollutants have been discovered in America's tap water. Over half of the pollutants are not even regulated!

At this point you could be thinking that it is hopeless, and just pick the lesser of two evils. But it doesn't have to be that way. There is a way to conveniently obtain healthy, pure, clean drinking water. Completely alkaline water that will properly hydrate you without bloating and washing right through you. The Wonder Water Story is where you can begin to learn even more. Reverse your water loss today by changing your water now.

Symptoms of Uterine Fibroids - Unveiling The Most Effective Fibroids Cure For Everyone

Loads of women are hurting under the consequences of uterine fibroids. Fibroid tumors are identified as the most famous benign growths plaguing the female uterus. A large number of these tumors barely set-off adverse symptoms and may not really necessitate therapy and the women being affected by this condition seldom know that theyve fibroids. For other patients, fibroids might lead to various difficulties. This write-up will therefore make an effort to discuss the symptoms of fibroids together with finding a cure for fibroids.

Uterine fibroids have an impact on loads of women who in most cases are of childbearing age and seldom show any malignant qualities. Fibroid growths are often identified inside the smooth muscles located in the uterine wall and can advance as an individual fibroid growth or as a group of fibroid tumors in or glued to the wall of the uterus.

Reasons behind the evolvement of fibroid tumors:

There are diverse reasons powering these kinds of tumors such as; having never gone through the process of childbearing, obesity, commencing menstruation before the age of ten etc. It is also a recognized medical fact that african-american women happen to be main victims of fibroid attacks in comparison to females of other backgrounds. Additionally, if a woman has an ancestral foundation of fibroids tumor, she is more likely to be affected by it at some point in her lifetime.

Symptoms of fibroids:

As noted earlier, a good number of women with these growths may not encounter any fibroids symptoms whatsoever. But if fibroids symptoms occur, the most common are;

a. problems with urination

b. abnormal menstrual cycle

c. back aches

d. leg pains

e. pain in the pelvic region

f. inability to conceive

g. widening of the waistline etc.

Uterine Fibroids Treatment:

The first step with fibroids therapy particularly when employing conventional remedies, is that the medical professional will basically observe the fibroids over a period of time to ensure that they do not expand or develop cancerous traits.

Extra fibroids solutions include consuming certain medications (birth control tablets, anti-inflammatory pills etc.), most of which may possess negative effects as well as being costly.

An additional fibroids treatment option that could be endorsed as a last point of call is surgery. The most popular one is hysterectomy which entails the total removal the uterus. Without a uterus, uterine fibroids can never thrive. This kind of surgical treatment could however make a lady feel a lot less like a woman mainly because her womb is no more there, which will in turn affect her ability to conceive and give birth ever again.

Another surgical option is myomectomy; which involves the taking away of the fibroids only. However, most fibroids are not eligible for this kind of surgery. Other medical means of dealing with fibroids include uterine artery embolism; the clotting of the flow of blood to the fibroid which may lead to the tumor shrinking when it lacks adequate supply of blood.

These are just a few methods for fibroids treatment, but please note that these approaches have their own side effects, not forgetting the fact that they are also very costly.

Natural Fibroids Treatment Options:

The great news is the fact that there are loads of alternative therapies that have recorded maximum success amongst fibroids sufferers worlwide. These methods are 100% natural and safe, and are void of the negative effects connected to conventional treatments. They attempt to take care of the root cause of the fibroids rather than just dealing with the symptoms.

Moreover, they are fairly low-priced using methods and materials that are readily available at nearby health shops as well as available in your private home.

Eliminate the pain and distress attributable to uterine fibroids for good using natural methods without resorting to a hysterectomy or some other costly surgical procedures. Try out the natural methods for fibroids treatment and enhance the level of quality of your life.

Pay Close Attention...

There is a sure fire way that is guaranteed to shrink uterine fibroids in record time. If you have been desperately looking around for a cure to uterine fibroids then Click any of the links to read about the best uterine fibroids treatment ever known to man.

For a Sciatica Cure Consider Alternatives

You know, before you can cure something, you have to know what it is. So, lets find out just what sciatica is - and see if theres a sciatica cure. Sciatica is defined by the medical community as "nerve pain, radiating from the lower back area, into the buttocks, legs and feet." The cause may be a compression or "pinching" of the sciatic nerve, which runs from the pelvis down both legs and everyone who suffers from sciatica has different symptoms. This could mean that there is no universal cure. Many sufferers have sought unorthodox methods to deal with sciatica pain.

Many, including some medical doctors believe that the body can heal itself without the use of medical/surgical intervention. Are they speaking of natural treatments as a sciatica cure - and if so, which ones would be effective?

There is evidence that a lack of Vitamin D can result in musculo-skeletal disorders which could be corrected by taking a supplement or by absorbing more sunlight - a natural source of Vitamin D. Also, ensure that youre getting enough Vitamin B12; essential for brain and bone health. A lack of B12 results in reduced muscle control (muscles help to hold the bones in place) and pernicious anemia. And B12 is known to reduce the frequency and severity of back pain; another sciatica cure resulting in less medication. If you lack B12, eating more meat and poultry or taking a supplement will help your body assimilate it.

Does your body lack magnesium? Magnesium is critical for hundreds of chemical functions and is essential for healthy muscles and an efficient central nervous system. You can ensure youre getting it by eating more vegetables such as beets, broccoli, spinach, parsley and carrots; add them to your salads.

We mentioned earlier that strong musculature is important for the health of your bones - and we know that regular exercise is essential. But yoga? As a sciatica cure? Definitely. Doing yoga exercises works naturally with bones and muscles, helping to maintain flexibility and strength. And another of those studies shows that back pain can be greatly reduced and even eliminated by doing yoga exercises regularly.

A massage is a treat - but did you know that its also excellent as a sciatica cure? Its especially beneficial if you suffer from acute sciatica attacks - massage tends to soothe it which can form part of your sciatica cure. Try to avoid staying in bed despite your pain as moving around will prevent your muscles from tightening and causing spasms. Try resting in your armchair for short periods while applying a hot pack to your lower back - alternate it with a cold pack as this will ease most lower back pain - and if youre pregnant, theres no need for you to avoid enjoying your massage as long as its done gently on your lower back - very relaxing, particularly if youre having difficulty tolerating the weight gain.

Back pain of any kind is generally accompanied by some inflammation. Heres where diet can really help to resolve it - some foods we eat can actually aggravate chronic inflammation which leads to more back pain. Go online and seek out diets which are anti-inflammatory and ensure that they include nuts, olive oil, berries and fish - and plenty of fresh water.

If youre experiencing sciatica pain, see your doctor. Try to avoid pain medication; these unconventional and alternative methods do work. Just a few lifestyle changes may help you find an effective sciatica cure.

Gluten Free Vegetarian Diet

Who needs it?

Gluten is a protein composite that can be found in wheat and related grains, like barley and rye. It doesn't dissolve when placed in water, adds texture to baked products and is used as a thickener, flavor enhancer and binder. Can be found in many staple foods. Gluten alone is not bad for your health. Nevertheless, there are people who have difficulties digesting gluten or develop gluten sensitivity so they must avoid it. For those that suffer from an inherited digestive disorder called celiac or for those with gluten intolerance, the available treatment at this time is a strict gluten-free vegetarian diet.

Nature offers help

In a gluten-free vegetarian diet you have to avoid wheat, oats, rye, barley, and all derived ingredients. Everything from pasta sauce to baked beans must be eliminated. Vegetarians who suffer from gluten sensitivity or from celiac disease have many difficulties when searching for food because most restaurants and stores don't prepare or keep gluten-free natural foods. It is good to know that there are many naturally gluten-free foods including:

  • Amaranth

  • Arrowroot

  • Bean Flours

  • Buckwheat

  • Corn

  • Mesquite flour

  • Millet and Millet flour

  • Nut flours (almond, hazelnut)

  • Potato, potato flour, potato starch

  • Pulse flours (beans, lentils, chickpeas)

  • Quinoa

  • Rice

  • Sorghum

  • Soy

  • Tapioca

  • Teff

This is a large variety of foods and definitely ensures that you get all the key nutrients even when you follow a gluten-free vegetarian diet: Calcium (spinach, kale, collard), Zinc (teff, quinoa, amaranth), Iron (sunflower, pumpkin, sesame), Vitamin B12 (non dairy beverages, soy milk), Vitamin D (almond milk, rice milk), protein (nuts, soybeans, tofu). There is a growing number of gluten-free products and flours, snack foods, hot and cold cereals, crackers, soups, sauces and pastas that can be found in health food stores and online, too. Apart from the above we must not forget pulses. It's an extremely important category.

The role of pulses in a gluten free vegetarian diet

Pulses are also known as legumes and contain very low amounts of fat. They include dry peas, dry beans, lentils and chickpeas. Peas or fresh green beans are not a part of this category because they have a much higher fat content. The benefits of legumes in a gluten-free vegetarian diet are many: rich in protein and complex carbohydrates, low in fat and sodium which is good for your heart, rich in a variety of vitamins and minerals. They are a good source of plant protein, very high in soluble and also insoluble fiber, have a low glycemic index and are high in potassium. Pulses are free of trans-fats and cholesterol, rich in folate they prevent blood clots and heart attack, provide us with zinc, calcium, magnesium and iron. They also are good for the environment in the sense that they take less energy to grow than other crops and produce fewer greenhouse gases. Legumes are very versatile. We can include them in main dishes, salads, appetizers, baked products, desserts, soups. Another major advantage is the fact they are readily available and low-cost. Considering the above it is very important to incorporate pulses in our gluten-free vegetarian diet.

Legumes and strategy

A good idea is to eat pulses every day. If you don't eat them daily, add them gradually, slowly in order to control bloating and gas. When you incorporate legumes in a gluten-free vegetarian diet keep in mind some tips:

- make list of safe, gluten-free foods: beans, seeds, nuts, fruits, rice

- drink fluids, mainly water

- eat loads of protein with each meal

- try a vegetarian omega 3 supplement from algae

- ask your friends and family to support you

- Maintain a positive attitude

- Consult your physician to ensure that your gluten-free meals include enough nutrients.

Student Etiquette for Yoga Classes

If you are a student who is planning on attending a local Yoga class, please read on. If you are a Yoga teacher, without safety guidelines for students or firm policies in place, please feel free to use any ideas below for creating the best possible class experience.

Etiquette can make the difference between an enjoyable Yoga class and one that you cannot wait to leave. Encouraging, and practicing, good student etiquette helps everyone have a great experience. Below are constructive tips for Yoga class participation.

Avoid cluttering the space. In some spacious rooms, it is fine to bring a backpack, while leaving your shoes, eyeglasses, and an extra sweater beside the mat during practice. In most classes, however, this inconveniences everyone and crowds those who wish to practice. It also creates an awkward shuffle when the mat is pulled up to the wall for poses. Try not to bring too many items to class, and leave extras outside the studio space. Most Yoga studios, or classes, have a waiting room, sitting room, coat room, or locker room; and it is best to leave excess clothing behind whenever possible.

Do not be late to Yoga class or leave early. Class needs to start on time for the benefit of the entire group. Many people begin to practice Yoga, in order to reduce stress in their lives. Some look forward to the full savasana period at the conclusion. This resting pose is just as important as more active poses, and it changes the feel of the experience, if students get up and leave during this period.

Make room for everyone. Do not leave others without space to lay down their mats by leaving large gaps between mats. Share props if the class is full. Do your best with only one block instead of two, if necessary. Try to be aware of how full the class is, and do not force the instructor to police the room, re-directing mat usage.

Do not bring in food or chew gum. It is distracting and against most studio policies. Plain water is usually fine, but ask to be sure. Do not wear strong perfume or smoke directly before class. A sponge bath before Yoga is also a wise precaution.

If you borrow a mat, clean it when you are finished with class. Many studios provide wipes or spray for this purpose. Try to return mats and props to the position in which you found them, such as rolled neatly or stacked.

It is fine to be practicing a modified posture (asana) if you discussed this with your instructor before the class. In most schools, modifications are perfectly acceptable. However, some instructors have different policies in regard to modifications. Therefore, it is wise to arrive early before class and let the instructor know, quietly, before class, if there are any medical conditions that he or she should be aware of - there may be poses or pranayama techniques that are not recommended for you.

Please shut off your cell phone or leave it in your car. Your classmates really want some down time away from technology, and there is no need to be plugged in to an electronic device while practicing Yoga.

Don't Panic About Vegan Nutrition!

Today people are turning vegan in ever-increasing numbers. They realize the benefits are there, but getting started scares them. They panic about vegan nutrition.

When I was a young boy back in the 1950's and 60's, we were taught by our parents, teachers (and the occasional after-school special) that milk and eggs were nearly the perfect food; fish was "brain food" and meat was absolutely necessary to build muscle.

By the 70's and 80's red meat and eggs began to lose ground because of fat and cholesterol concerns so chicken and fish suddenly became our preferred sources of protein. Our consumption of cheese grew rapidly as fast food restaurants began to put it on everything.

And so, we were conditioned. We were taught by rote learning. You need meat, poultry, fish, eggs and milk for protein. Sure, some plants have a little protein-but it's the wrong kind. It's plant protein. Do you want to have plant muscles? Do you want to have arms like a daffodil? Do you want carrot legs or potato abs? Your brain already looks like a cauliflower-do you want it to be a cauliflower?

No I don't. I will eat my meat.

So that's why we're panicked! All of a sudden, we are finding out that beef, eggs, cheese, pork, milk, chicken-all those animal products are bad for us. Sure, we knew about animal fat-and cholesterol. But now, we're finding that even the coveted animal protein is far more damaging to us than plant-based protein! And not only are they bad for us, the general public is just now beginning to wake up to the truth about factory farming and the atrocities being committed just so we can eat animals. We want to quit meat-we really do-but we need our protein!

What's a mother to do?!

Don't panic!

Try pushing over a gorilla... or an elephant. Might there be a little muscle in these wild kingdom vegans? Try to run down a stallion... or a Thompson's gazelle. Might there be a little muscle in these speedy plant-eaters?

Don't panic about vegan nutrition. Protein is not an issue! It seems like there is protein in almost everything! (Okay, no protein in water). Take broccoli for instance (a food that you would suspect would have almost no protein): one-half cup contains three-grams of carbohydrates, zero-grams of fat and one-gram of protein. That means almost a quarter of the calories come from protein-in broccoli. One cup of spinach has a gram of carbs, very little fat and a gram of protein-so nearly half of the calories in spinach come from protein.

In comparison, let's look at beef. Three-oz. of top loin, prime steak contains no carbs and 22-grams of protein. So, yah-a lot of protein. But it also contains 20 grams of fat (and more than 8 grams of that is saturated). So steak is a little more than 50% protein-but it also gives us all that fat that we have to deal with.

Sure, there are more details that I don't have the time or space to go into right now. There's the whole discussion about protein quality for instance. But those details don't change the basic truth.

The point is... you can get all the protein you need from a whole foods plant-based diet... with very little effort. Gorillas do it. Elephants do it. Horses do it. And an ever-increasing number of humans are doing it (including triathletes, pro football players, pro hockey players and ultra-marathoners).

Don't panic about vegan nutrition. Vitamins and minerals are the least of your concerns. What did mom tell you growing up? Eat your vegetables! They have vitamins in them! Vegetables and fruit are the most nutritionally-dense foods that we have. They are practically bursting with vitamins. And they have something more-phytochemicals.

Every day in the news we hear about antioxidants. Antioxidants are just one type of phytochemical. Phytochemicals (or phytonutrients) are substances that the plant produces to protect itself against environmental and chemical dangers. When we eat those phytochemicals, those substances protect us against various diseases including cancer. They also help to protect us against some harmful effects of aging.

Phytochemicals produce the distinctive colors in plants. So it's best to eat a variety of colors to insure that we're getting a variety of healthy phytochemicals. Many vegans advise that we "eat from the rainbow".

So don't panic about vegan nutrition! If you're thinking about becoming vegan, it's probably the first time you've ever even thought about specifically what you're putting in your mouth. About the only additional thing we have to worry about as a plant-eater is vitamin B12. Plants have no vitamin B12. So take a vitamin supplement and drink soy milk or some other B12-fortified products.

And everyone should pay attention to their levels of vitamin D, calcium, iron, zinc and iodine. These potential deficiencies are not a vegetarian and vegan issue. These micronutrients can be an issue for herbivores and carnivores alike-not just vegans. As carnivores, we probably never worried about these nutrients. As a side benefit, becoming vegan has made most of us more aware of our nutritional requirements and mindful of what we're putting in our mouths.

Each day, more and more of us are becoming increasingly interested in vegetarian and vegan vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. As concerns about our health, concerns about the ethical treatment of our fellow creatures and concerns about our environment press upon our consciences; many of us are turning to a vegan diet as a way of personally addressing many of these issues. CLICK on the LINKS in this resource box to read additional important information on vegan nutrition and the vegetarian lifestyle in general.

Diet for Hypoglycemia, Low Blood Sugar Level

Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar level can be well managed by following a regular diabetic diet. Most of hypoglycemic issues are happening due to uncontrolled food intakes by diabetic patients. Complications related to hypoglycemia can be easily made under control by tracing patients diet. Hypoglycemic diet should be properly planned with the help of a dietitian. A hypoglycemic patient can start his or her day by having a good diabetic breakfast. Never try to skip breakfast, as it is necessary for maintaining the blood glucose level. Always self control and keep a limit in food intake.

Consuming according to the preplanned diabetic diet will do well. Eating small amounts of meals in regular intervals with inclusion of snacks in between diet helps in regulating blood sugar level. Try taking small meals in every three hours or as prescribed by nutritionist. Prepare regular note of every small bite and do continuous glucose monitoring for better result. Ripened fruits, boiled meat, and raw vegetables are some of the favorable food items for a hypoglycemic patient. Alcohol consumption and tobacco effects negatively in maintaining normal blood glucose level. Alcohol consumption in empty stomach promotes rapid metabolism leading way to sudden fall in blood glucose level.

Devising a healthy diabetic diet is very important for hypoglycemic patients. Hypoglycemic diet should be natural, slow and gradual. But in case of artificial fast food it is just reverse. Nutritionists highlight their preference in taking fruit and vegetable juice than other sugary beverages like coffee, tea, chocolate and wine. Some food items rich with carbohydrate concentration induce sudden spike in blood sugar level after eating. In order to counterpart high blood sugar level, body makes use of hormones which may some times result in hypoglycemia.

Today, many food supplements capable of reducing stress hormone formation are available in the market. Vitamin B complex capsule is an example for anti stress hormone which helps in preventing adrenalin and cortisol formation. Production of these stress hormones in body creates emotional changes leading way to mental problems. Headache, muscle pain, insomnia, cold sweat, depression, dizziness, drowsiness, faintness and weakness are some of the symptoms shown as a result of hypoglycemia.

Dietitians prefer protein cum fat rich dishes for hypoglycemic patients. Protein and fat helps in maintaining blood glucose level by reducing metabolic rate of the body. Eggs, soybeans, fatless creams, fatless cheese, fishes and white meat like chicken comes under protein cum fat rich food items. Yogurt mixed with fresh vegetables is considered as a special recipe for hypoglycemic patients. Doctors often advice hypoglycemic patients to carry a sugar candy with them so that patients can use this sugar candy in case of emergency.

Consumption of sugar candies comprised with simple sugar components create sudden spike in blood sugar level. Eating foods with complex carbohydrate proportion prevents retardation of blood sugar level for a longer period of time. Cereals, legumes, whole grains, pastas and vegetables are examples of complex carbohydrate food items which help in slow sugar metabolism. Maintaining diet with proper medication reduces hypoglycemic consequences to a maximum level.

Reduce Blood Pressure With The Health Benefits Of Black Tea

Need a reason to enjoy a cup of tea? How about this... an ability to reduce blood pressure might just be one of many health benefits gained from drinking black tea according to a recent study.

The work finds that those who drank 3 cups of tea a day reduced their blood pressure by around 2-3 points. That might not sound a lot, but even small drops in blood pressure numbers can have a big impact on your levels and your chances of developing of heart disease.

Tea is a well-loved, full flavored drink enjoyed the world over, and is often the main source of flavonoid intake for most people, providing half of the daily total. You can drink it either hot or cold, and it is considered safe for just about everybody. And while green tea has gotten lots of accolades in terms of health, black tea also has some respectable health benefits. Still the effects of regular tea drinking on blood pressure remain a mystery.

So the team examined the effect of drinking tea on hypertension for just under 100 people who drank tea on a regular basis. The systolic (top number, when the heart pumps) blood pressure was 115-150 when the study started. Half the study subjects had three cups of tea a day for a six-month period, the other half consumed a placebo drink that tasted the same and did have caffeine. Both study groups were matched for sex, age and weight.

When the research ended, those who were drinking black tea saw an average 2-3 point reduction in the 24 hour average systolic (upper number) blood pressure level, with around 2 points in the diastolic (lower number, when the heart is resting) number.

The difference in the numbers seen in the research would result in a reduction of 10% in the occurrence of hypertension, a 7-10% reduction in risk of both heart disease and stroke. This is the first time a long term study on black tea has been found to bring down blood pressure in those with either normal or high normal readings.

Why? Researchers have a number of explanations.

Recent research has shown that black tea can boost the workings of endothelial cells that line the inside of blood vessels. Dysfunction in these cells is an early sign of changes in blood pressure. Other work has suggested that flavonoids in tea can increase the blood vessel's tone as well as help with reducing body weight and belly fat.

The health benefits of black tea are important to recognize, especially considering the high numbers of people suffering with hypertension the world over. About 1 in 3 U.S. adults has high blood pressure, though many may not know it because the condition has no outward symptoms and you can have it for years without seeing the damage being done to your heart, blood vessels, kidneys and other systems of the body.

This is why knowing your blood pressure numbers, even if you feel just fine, is so important. If your numbers are normal, you can work to keep them that way. If they aren't, you'll be able to start treatment that will help reduce blood pressure, thereby preventing more damage to your body.

Why You Should Try Massage

The object of a massage is to:

- Relax tension in the muscles and other parts of the body

- Reduce stress and strains of the day

- Relax the mind and encourage total receptivity to relaxation

- Improve blood flow throughout the body

- Increase overall feeling of well-being and relaxation

This is done by manipulation of the muscles and connective tissues in certain prescribed ways. What a lot of people sometimes forget is that an amateurish bad massage from a friend can be worse than no massage at all and in some cases can in fact cause damage to muscles and the body. Always ensure that any person you allow to massage you is fully trained and has the necessary competence to carry out the technique that you require. This does not however stop you from having fun with your partner using massage oils that are available in drugstores. Numerous people swear by body massages for the reduction of back pain and aches caused by over exertion during sport. It is now commonplace to see during International sports matches various trainers and physiotherapists running on to the pitch at half time or the end of a game and start to massage the legs and backs of their sportsmen before muscle cramps and the pain sets in. In fact when it comes to sportsmen and women they are far ahead of the game when it comes to understanding the benefits of massage therapy. Many massage techniques have been imported from Europe to the US because of their obvious benefits. Massage in its present form has mainly been adopted form the practices prevalent in the early 20th Century in Sweden and the Nordic countries. However massage itself has been around for thousands of years. Both the ancient Roman and Greeks were firm believers in the restorative powers of massages and there are numerous mentions of massages in many old texts from that time. However not just the Europeans understood the healing powers of oil and massage but also the Chinese Emperors and their courts too understood that a great feeling of relaxation and wellbeing emanated from the judicious timing of a full body rub down. Many people are fully aware of the ancient Turkish Bathhouses but how many know that it was not just hot steam available but also a fully body massage too. The art of Massage has a long and noble history and only now are we just beginning to fully appreciate the benefits that were second nature to the ancients.

There are many types of massage from the normal generally accepted body rub, commonly known as Swedish massage, to the rather more esoteric Lomi Lomi massage of Oceania.

The Swedish, or classic massage is the most widely used and enjoyed massage and when carried out by a competent well trained masseur is a joy to receive. In Europe it is usually carried out with the recipient naked with a towel laid over their lower parts for modesty. There are different types of oils used depending on the reason for the massage and quite often there will be certain aspects of aromatherapy included too. This can be the burning of certain oils of a particular aroma which have their own restorative qualities and also using certain ambient light colours. Indeed these are also used in the saunas in Europe as they are now becoming more and more accepted as part of mainstream healthcare. The Swedish massage consists mainly of five different types of strokes, which are:

1. Sliding, rubbing the hand along the body,

2. Kneading, in a similar manner to kneading bread before baking,

3. Tapping in a rhythm, something similar to what you see doctors doing to patients in old films where the doctor puts two fingers on the patients body and rhythmically taps them,

4. The friction stroke where instead of flowing with the grain of the muscle the hands of the masseur go across the muscle,

5. And finally the vibration stroke.

In the Swedish massage the client usually lies face down on a table about waist height with a towel around the waist. If necessary cushions or pillow can be used to ensure the client is lying comfortably. There are many different oils that can be used and it is entirely up to the customer to choose whatever is their preference. However it is always a good idea for the masseur to warm the oil before starting so that right from the beginning the client is comfortable and does not receive any shocks from cold oil that can ruin the ambience and feeling of relaxation. Another good idea if you are having the massage at home is to light candles in the room to increase further the feeling of relaxation. Quite often the masseur will bring an oil burner so that the room is suffused with the aroma of essential oils which also helps with the relaxation and mood setting. Then the masseur starts on the shoulders and works all over the back and spine. For a lot of people this is the best part of the massage as it is the back that gives the most trouble and pain. Then the legs and arms are completed. After the client has turned over the front of the body is then massaged. Quite often the feet are massaged separately as this is a specialized area in its own right and there are practitioners in the East that make a good living just from being an expert foot masseur.

When the massage is completed the client should sit and relax for a while and take in some fluids. Drinking fluids will help release toxins from the body. Read a book for half an hour or sit and listen to soothing music and you will feel all your cares recede as your body relaxes and unwinds.

If you have never had a full body massage now is the time to consider it. For the undoubted benefits it brings it is surely a cheap way of improving your health and lifestyle.

My Views on Colloidal Silver

I see many clients to help them to stop smoking, lose weight and other issues. With most of my clients, especially the smokers I talk to them about Colloidal Silver. As I explain to them while I cannot prescribe or medicate I can share this information as they can find it on my website.

So people who have smoked have at the back of their mind a fear or worry about cancer, ongoing chest infections etc. This is because they have been smoking for many years and realise that this can cause cancer and many other nasty diseases. So they know they have to stop smoking.

So I ask them "Have you ever heard of Colloidal Silver?" Only a few people have even heard of it, most haven't. I go on to explain to them that it has amazing properties. It can neautralise bacteria, viruses and even cancer. I have been taking it for well over a year now, not consistently only when I feel an infection coming on or have an infection. For example in July last year I attended a 10 day seminar - 13 hour days and developed conjunctivitis. Now we all know how unpleasant that is and it started on the3rd day of the conference with Dr John Demartini. I bought some Chloromycetin eye drops from the chemist and it did nothing for it. It was a very uncomfortable 7 days where I kept my eye closed most of the time. When I arrived home I took four doses of Colloidal Silver and within 24 hours the conjunctivitis was pretty much gone. I did take another two doses for the next two days just to be sure.

I have used it on skin grazes, on skin infections, mouth ulcers and all with the same results. You may ask "what about cancer?" I met a lady at the pool two years ago and I asked her if she had ever heard of Colloidal Silver and she said, "Maureen I swear by it. I had breast cancer and I don't have it anymore and it's only because of Colloidal Silver. Mind you I will never stop taking it though."

Now what is it exactly? Well it is filtered water with a shot of silver through it. I discovered recently that you can have different strengths so do check with your naturopath or the person you buy it from. If you Google it you will come up with a man who has a blue face and that is because he drank it like water. This is not how you take it - you take it in measured doses.

So how do you take it? Well if it is a skin infection then just apply it to the open wound or even closed ones. When one of the girls had pimples I gave her a spray to put on morning and night. With sore throats just gargle it and swallow it. With the conjunctivitis I took 30mls and put about half of it into my mouth and left it there for 30 seconds and then swallowed it. I repeated this until all of it was gone. Then I didn't eat or drink for 30 minutes. At present I am taking it morning and night as I have a tingle in my throat.

So I hope this has helped you. I would suggest having this on hand and trying it out even on the children. It's worthwhile so they don't have to keep having antibiotics and messing up the healthy bacteria in their tummies. As mentioned above check with your naturopath for dosage and frequency. Dangerous Processed Food - How to Make the Switch to Whole Food

Our society is all about convenience and speed. Some of us can remember the time before microwave ovens when we had to reheat food using a stove. Now, reheating something for two minutes in a microwave seems to take too long. It is no wonder that fast-food restaurants never lose popularity. It is rare to drive past a fast-food place where there isn't a line full of cars waiting there turn to order in the drive-through.

The problem with this is that busy people often turn to the convenience of processed food to make life easier. However, the downside is that processed food can be the leading factor to a variety of health issues, obesity being a huge one.

When you think of what exactly processed food is, think in terms of what you find in boxes, cans, or other types of packaging. These types of food are typically found within the inner aisles of the supermarket or in any fast-food establishment. The food we should be eating are whole, natural food which is typically found on the outer perimeter of the supermarket. These types of food come in their natural state. Food such as lean meat, vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds.

Many people do not bother with whole food because they require preparation. It isn't anymore difficult to eat healthier than it is to wait for 15 minutes in a drive-through. If you work a 9 to 5 job, somewhere within your day and/or week, you have time to yourself. If you devote part of that time to preparing your meals for at least three days worth, you can make a significant change in your overall health.

Eating processed food on a regular basis can lead to health issues such as:

  • Obesity

  • Heart disease

  • Diabetes

  • Hypertension

Although eating whole food can take a little bit more work, after awhile, it becomes second nature. Once you notice the difference in your health, the prep time will be insignificant.

There are several benefits to preparing your own healthy meals. For one, you save much more money because you can purchase certain items in bulk. You save yourself time during your week because you are not spending time dining out. You may even notice some weight loss.

Give it a try for a week or two. It is easy if you prep your meals twice a week (usually on a Sunday and a Wednesday). You will save time, money, and your health.

Eating a large of amount of processed food can place a toll on our bodies. Consider giving your body a tune-up by detoxifying with a full body cleanse. An herbal based cleanse can help rejuvenate the body and open the door to healing. Learn more by visiting: http://dherbs.com/store/full-body-cleanse-p-1.html

Understanding the Basics of Build Muscle Routine

A routine is a usual way of doing things. it is that tendency to do things in an unvaried way over and over again. As far as build muscle routine is concerned, it means those steps that are taken routinely with a view to build muscles. A routine demands a lot of self-discipline and this is what lacks in many people. To the body builders, there are no two ways about it. It has to be followed under any circumstances and this may probably explain why once in a while we find people rushing madly just to get to the gym in time.

One of the basics of an effective build muscle routine is consistence. By this is meant that undying spirit to push on with a plan until the very end. It is an expensive virtue that most people find hard would rather navigate around. It is exercised alongside persistence and perseverance without which a routine cannot be maintained. A build muscle routine needs to be well thought of so as to ensure that the end product is one that a person feels in control of and it is only such a routine that can be complied with without uncalled for strain.

When trying to develop a build muscle fast workouts it would be important that one seeks the advice of various professionals as the case may be. If ones routine is to do with diet for example, the input of a dietitian is of great importance and if it is to do with exercise, it may be important to consult a gym instructor. The reason behind this is that owing to the training and experience, these people are likely to know some secrets of how to develop effective and easily feasible routines.

Another very important point to note in the development of a build muscle fast workouts is to ensure that whatever routine is worked out is user friendly. It beats logic for someone to allocate a time to go to the gym when he is well aware that he will never be available and if available without occasioning serious strain on his part, or to take up a diet he cannot afford. It is therefore imperative to come up with a routine that is interesting to be engaged in.

Omega 3 Fish Oil - An Important Supplement for a Healthy Heart

Fish oils, also known as essential fatty acids, have been known to help the prevention of heart attacks by helping you with a healthier heart. It is suggested that people increase their consumption of fish oils to prevent and, in certain cases, slow down any chances of a heart attack.

Eating fish regularly is a good option for some people but because most people cannot get adequate levels of fish oils from their foods, experts recommend that they add fish oil supplements to their diet.

Many studies have shown that consumption of omega 3 essential oils have various health benefits including lower blood pressure, better cholesterol levels, a healthy cardiovascular system and reduced occurrences of heart attacks. It has been proved that certain regions that have a diet high in fish oil, like the Japanese and Mediterranean cultures, have lower levels of heart attack and heart diseases in their population.

How can omega 3 oils help with a healthy heart?

Omega-3 fatty acids consist of 3 acids, namely - DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) which work together and individually to reduce the various risks associated with heart disease.

Of all the three acids, DHA is considered the most important and is very crucial for a healthy heart. It is not only important for our hearts but also for our brains. In fact, lower DHA levels have been linked to Alzheimers disease.

Since our bodies are not able to manufacture the amount of DHA required by us for optimum health, we need to supplement this requirement by adding dietary supplements to our daily intake.

The following are some of the benefits associated with fatty acids:

- Adding essential fatty acids to our diets decreases our risk of the 2 main factors responsible for cardiovascular ailments- atherosclerosis and arrhythmia. These are the two main causes for a heart attacks and other heart diseases.

- Fish oils also help with reducing inflammation which is caused due to the production of prostaglandin. While both omega 3 as well as omega 6 acids produce prostaglandins, the ones produced by omega 3 oils are less active (sometimes as much as by 50 times) than the ones produced by omega 6 acids thereby lowering the rate of inflammation.

- Fish oils also help thin your blood preventing blood clots and also help lower the blood pressure.

- Omega 3s help keeping healthy cholesterol levels. Fatty acids are said to reduce LDL (low-density lipoprotein) also known as the bad cholesterol and increase the levels of HDL (the good cholesterol).

Most people begin with levels of 500 mg of omega 3 fatty acids but if you or your family members have a history of heart diseases or have not been able to adhere to a healthy diet, you can consume up to 1000 mg of omega 3 oils. But, of course, it is recommended that before you begin with any dietary supplements, it is better you check with your physician, especially if you are on any medications.

A Heart Healthy Diet for High Cholesterol

Having elevated levels of cholesterol puts you at great risk of heart disease and stroke. If you think your heart is at risk of these life-threatening conditions, you need to learn how to choose and eat a heart healthy diet to lower down your risk and continue living a healthy life until you aged.

Below are some handy ideas that you can use to help you heart achieve the ultimate protection it deserves.

Bulk up on fiber

Eating fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains is among the top strategies you can do to fight heart disease. Bulking up on fiber and constantly eating them everyday can significantly reduce your bad cholesterol levels.

You could incorporate for about 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables each day and aim for at least 2-3 servings of whole grains and nuts per week.

Don't skip meals

People who tend to skip breakfast or any important meal of the day thinks that they will lose weight but the truth is, it will only yield to overeating. Overeating will only result to high caloric and high fat food consumption which is a big no-no for your heart.

Instead of feeling guilty of skipping meals and overeating, you can instead practice a good eating habit. Try to follow eating small frequent meals each day which comprises for about 5-6 mini meals full of nutritious foods. This will make your stomach feel full which decreases your cravings.

Introduce yourself to omega 3

Omega 3 fatty acids are known as good fat and bring a lot of benefits to your heart and overall health. Food sources that are rich in omega 3 are mainly found from cold water fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines, herring, and mackerel. With that being said, including fish in your daily meal plan can help boost your good cholesterol.

Avoid processed and fatty foods

Fast foods are yummy and convenient for busy people who haven't got the time to cook their own meals at home. Although they seem and taste delicious, they are full of preservatives, fat and even sodium. As much as possible, if you want to prevent having future heart attacks and stroke, you need to avoid eating processed foods.

Instead, make time to prepare your own meal and incorporate all nutritious foods on it. Preparing and cooking your own food will give you an idea on how much fat and calorie you're taking in. Plus, you wouldn't have to worry whether your food is well sanitized and safe for eating.

Vitamin D - How Much Is Enough?

There are two types of Vitamin D. Vitamin D2 and D3. D3 is produced in the body from a chemical response to the UV radiation in natural light.

Vitamin D has found to have benefits on immune functionality and infection. Food items abundant in supplement D are minimal. It can be found in some fish like salmon, tuna, large mackerel, cod, egg yokes and in fortified food items like whole milk, natural yoghurts, some breads cereals and fruit juice products.

Although sufficient amounts of D are very important to our health getting too much of it can lead to a variety of side effects.

Taking calcium supplements minimizes bone tissue reduction and lessened the possibility of fracturing the vertebrae (the bone that encircle the spinal cord) this is one of the best known functions of Vitamin D.

If you live above 35 degrees North it will do you no good during the winter months to get sun exposure for the purposes of increasing your "D" levels. Some people think that just by walking outside that they will get enough of the suns rays to help their bodies produce the Vitamin D that they need but this isnt always the case. You actually ought to not walk but lay down and uncover as much skin as you can get away with.

Vitamin D helps has also been shown to play an important role in the prevention of coronary heart disorder. D is best recognized for its anti-cancer benefits, but all of a sudden, right after a quantity of recently available analysis, its starting to be progressively more recognized for its potential to protect against conditions like type 2 diabetes and depressive disorders as well.

Too much vitamin D consumption is dangerous due to the fact that it heightens calcium concentrations in the body. At this time, the average vitamin D intake for adults is only about 230 IU a day but now many doctors advocate the dosage be elevated to 1,500 to 2,000 IU.

There are some effective nutritional resources for getting your D, they are things such as canola oil, cruciferous fruit and vegetables, and soy bean oil. As far as meat products go the best resource is pork. Other excellent food options are things like dehydrated fruit, fortified whole grain cereal, oats, corn, nut products, cauliflower, and sunflower plant seeds.

How do you know if you are Vitamin D deficient?

Reduced 25OHD levels are an indicator of vitamin D insufficiency and are connected with hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, and increased alkaline phosphatase.

D is essential for our over all health and building a strong immune system but just like any other healthy substance it is important not to over do it!

Maintaining Your Resolution for Better Health and Fitness

Its the beginning of a new year and many of us have set intentions to make healthier choices with what we eat and to be more physically active in our day to day lifestyle. Obviously there are infinite benefits to getting in better shape, especially when it comes to maintaining optimum health and aging gracefully. As our metabolism gradually slows down, we start noticing changes in our bodies and realize we do not look nearly the same as when we were 18-years old. This can be a despondent feeling for some; however all we can do at this point is make the best of what weve got. Friends come and go in our lives, as well as all of our material possessions - but we are stuck with our bodies throughout our entire life! We might as well optimize what we have to work with, as it is never too late to get in better shape.

Consistent exercise - no matter what your age, gender or size - not only improves your health and fitness, but also your overall quality of life. When we practice getting in better shape, our hearts pump better and our lungs get more oxygen, and that contributes to a feeling of "aliveness" that in turn improves our attitude and zest for life. The best way to overcome stress and depression is physical activity, which tends to reignite our passions and inspire creativity. It will improve the way you feel mentally, emotionally and physically.

Why exercise boosts your self-esteem

Any type of exercise can put you in a positive, self-confident, assured state of mind. If youre overweight, even basic walking can help, as well as increase positive feelings and self-esteem. If its too cold outside, perhaps you can find a shopping mall or large store to walk up and down the aisles for exercise. Even if youre just starting to exercise, youll feel healthier in your body and start to look better each day, even if the changes are subtle. Your perception of how you look is almost as powerful as your actual fitness level.

In addition to actual physical prowess, your body will unleash a host of powerful feel-good hormones as well such as serotonin, melatonin and testosterone. There is nothing more attractive than your positive attitude. The better you feel, the more you will want to be physically active and enjoy social interaction. As you exercise more, naturally you will tend to make better choices with what you consume. There is evidence that increased fitness levels and eating healthier can play a role in changing how we smell. By decreasing the levels of toxins in our bodies, we can improve our body odor and our breath. There is also an evolutionary biological theory that states we are more sexually attracted to healthy bodies because it indicates lack of disease.

Exercise for better sex!

Whether you are a seasoned fitness expert or have struggled with maintaining an ideal weight, there is no better time than right now to recommit to improving your overall health. Feeling better about your health and physical appearance will also improve your ability to sexually attract a mate (or current lover), as well as improve your sex life. If you do not appreciate and love your own body, then how can you expect to openly and wholeheartedly share it with a partner? The more you exercise, the better you will feel about yourself, and may also be more adventurous and comfortable with your lover.

Especially for women, physical movement and getting the juices flowing can help you to feel more connected to your body - which often increases sexual enjoyment. Developing your cardiovascular health will improve stamina, and increase flexibility, which can enhance bedroom sexploration with more pleasure, comfort and ease. You can last much longer during lovemaking because youre not so tired. Exercise makes all your tissues and organs healthier, including your genitalia. With additional blood flow to the clitoris and surrounding area, youre likely to have more frequent and intense orgasms as well.

Better to work-out together

Having a workout buddy is ideal for staying on track with an exercise routine and maintaining a sense of motivation and accountability. What better activity to share together than exercising with your existing partner or with a potential lover? Whether you both enjoy spending time at the gym, go hiking or biking, or even take a yoga or dance class with your partner, your sex drive will be revved up after an invigorating workout together. And of course sex itself is a terrific workout, especially if you take turns doing the work so you both receive much physical benefit (and pleasure) from an energetic session of playful interaction. The key to sexual pleasure is getting out of your head and into your body. What better way to ignite your senses than by exploring your body through exercise and movement?

If you feel like you could use a little boost to give you more energy, endurance and stamina; I highly recommend an all-natural herbal supplement for women. In the last four months of taking a specific herbal blend, Ive noticed a dramatic increase in my overall energy level - at the gym, hiking or biking the trails, and in the bedroom! Dehydroepiandrosterone Treatment for Infertility

The use of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) treatment is an emerging development in the infertility treatment options available to women. Studies are showing significant results in improving pregnancy rates in women with premature ovarian failure, advanced maternal age, and diminished ovarian reserves. DHEA treatment programs are beginning to surface and their great success is pioneering the way to make DHEA a standard treatment practice for infertility.

What is DHEA?

Dehydroepiandrosterone, or DHEA, is a natural steroid hormone produced abundantly by the adrenal gland. Circulating DHEA is converted by the body into testosterone. It is available in an over-the-counter supplement form has been studied for its effects on the female reproductive system as well as cognitive function, mood, longevity, lupus, menopause, muscle growth and osteoporosis. Although available over the counter, DHEA treatment should be carefully monitored by a physician. Inappropriate DHEA use can halt ovulation, alter cycle and cause undesirable side effects including excessive hair growth and acne.

How Does DHEA Relate to Infertility?

Every woman is born with a finite number of eggs available for reproductive potential. As a woman ages her supply, or reserve, of eggs slowly decreases. Typically, by age 35 a womans reserve begins to drop dramatically. When the egg supply becomes very low, it is called diminished ovarian reserves (DOR). DOR is one of the most common causes of infertility in women over the age of 35. However, in some cases women under 35 may experience premature diminished ovarian reserves. One notable cause of DOR is decreased DHEA levels. Aging, stress, genetics and other lifestyle factors can negatively affect the production of DHEA, thus resulting in impaired reproductive system.

Positive Effects Of DHEA Supplementation on Fertility

A study published by Tel Aviv University in 2010 showed that women who received DHEA supplements were three times more likely to become pregnant than those who did not. The women in the study who were given DHEA had a pregnancy success rate of 23 percent as opposed to the control group success rate of 4 percent. They also discovered that of those who go pregnant in both groups, the DHEA group had significantly healthier pregnancies and deliveries.

The Center for Human Reproduction in New York has also released several studies on DHEA. Their findings have shown that DHEA significantly improves ovarian reserves as well as reduces miscarriage rates in DOR patients. Here are some of the positive fertility effects of DHEA treatment that this infertility center has reported:

  • Increases egg and embryo counts

  • Increases egg ad embryo quality

  • Decreases amount of time to achieve pregnancy in fertility treatment

  • Increases spontaneous pregnancy rates

  • Improves IVF pregnancy rates

  • Decreases miscarriage rates

  • Decreases rates of chromosomally abnormal embryos

Although the research still remains preliminary, these findings hold great promise for the future of infertility. DHEA treatment should not be used as a fertility treatment without the supervision of infertility physicians experienced in DHEA treatment programs.

L-Arginine - What Is It?

Does the word L-Arginine ring a bell? You may have seen it on a label of a bottle of nutritional supplements. In fact, L-Arginine is sold as a supplement, both on its own and in combination with other items, like L-Carnitine and coenzyme Q10. But for this article, we wont talk about those last two, but only the first one.

Continuing, if you need professional assistance, please talk with a physician or an otherwise qualified person. Information in this article is not to be used instead of getting professional advice, nor is it to be followed should it go against such advice. There can be side effects to taking this kind of supplement, so please also take that into consideration, and ask your doctor about any potential interactions it may have with other things you are taking, whether supplements, medications, etc. It may also be contraindicated in certain people, so please bring up that subject as well.

If youre not interested in getting supplements, you can also obtain L-Arginine dietarily through particular foods. For instance, seafood and poultry contain it. If youd rather not get your L-Arginine through animal sources, then you could try getting some by eating seeds or oatmeal. These are just some of the foods that contain this amino acid.

How is L-Arginine thought to be of use in a medical sense? There are many claimed benefits. For now, lets look at a couple. One is an improved sensitivity to insulin. Another is a decreased blood pressure.

You might consider natural sources rather than supplements of L-Arginine.

An Angular Cheilitis Treatment

Angular cheilitis is actually a malady more widespread than most people think. It will show up as painful cracked lips and mouth areas to the degree that eating and eve talking is extremely painful. Lots of people suffer needlessly from it due to a lack of an angular cheilitis treatment that really works for them. What they do not realise is the fact that treating the symptoms is not enough to avoid the problem.

The trick to an angular cheilitis treatment is not to handle the signs and symptoms (sore, cracked lips), but to uncover the cause. There are a few possible reasons for angular cheilitis, all of which are simple enough to isolate and treat.

The very first cause to examine is ill fitting dentures which lead to excess saliva congregating in the corners of the mouth, providing a breeding ground for the germs and fungus that cause the cracks in the mouth area. In this case, the cheilitis treatment would be to correctly fit the dentures so that the accumulating of saliva in the corners of the lips no longer occurs.

Practices like pen or pencil sucking and chewing can also cause angular cheilitis. This produces saliva which could gather in the corners of the lips and also have the same et effect as the ill-fitting dentures. To correct this, the routine must be broken. How you would do this is up to you.

In older people, or perhaps the handicapped, angular cheilitis might be due to diminished control over the facial muscles. The only real cheilitis treatment here would be to have a caretaker, or the person themselves, clean the mouth area with fair regularity with a soft cloth to get rid of the saliva. In the event the problem is due to surgery or any sort of accident, physiotherapy may help the afflicted get back control over those muscle groups and sort out the angular cheilitis problem.

Sometimes an unbalanced diet regime causing a deficiency of iron or perhaps vitamin B12 could cause the problem. Youd then need to take nutritional vitamin supplements to correct this problem and start to eat correctly so that the imbalance does not reoccur.

Meanwhile, you can use a variety of cheilitis treatments to ease the pain and help to keep the mouth form getting too agonizing. Applying a lip balm to lips that arent scabbed over can help to protect the lips from the effects of the saliva and also to soften the damaged, dry areas so the eating and talking isnt so painful. The theory guiding this relief is that it starves the fungus and germs of the moisture and air all living things need to survive.

There are a variety of other do-it-yourself solutions which can be effective in dealing with the signs and symptoms of angular cheilitis, however, you have to solve the root of the problem, not just the symptoms. Try and isolate the reason for your angular cheilitis and begin to deal with that first, then worry about getting the present outbreak under control. If you omit to isolate the cause, the malady will just keep recurring and get steadily worse each time.

Eating Fried Food Without Heart Disease Risk

Good news for people who enjoy eating fried food and who also happen to be worried about their heart health. Having foods fried in oils like sunflower or olive has not been linked to either heart disease or early death according to new Spanish research..

Eating lots of fried foods has been associated in the past with high blood pressure, lower HDL (good) cholesterol and obesity - all risk factors for heart disease. This latest work puts a different spin on things.

The study followed over 40,000 adults (aged 29-69) who did not have heart disease at the beginning of the work, collecting diet information including details on what they'd eaten (and how it was cooked) in a normal week - there were a total of 668 different foods, with just over 200 that were fried, for them to choose.

Frying methods were also captured and included deep-frying, pan frying or sautéed. Most people fried in olive oil, known to have antioxidants that help keep the heart working properly.

Important to understand is that most meals study participants ate were prepared and eaten at home... unlike the U.S. where we eat out so much it's hard to know what type of oil might be used in a dish. The subjects in this study were not eating anything close to a typical Western diet, but rather the Mediterranean eating style. Lots of fish... olive and sunflower oils.

The researchers divided the study participants up into four groups, based on how much fried foods they ate - the group who ate the least had 1.6 ounces a day, the highest intake was 8.8 ounces per day. On average the subjects ate a little under 5 ounces per day of fried foods using just half an ounce of oil in which to prepare them.

During the study period, 606 heart attacks (or other heart "events") happened and 1,135 subjects died from all causes. The team saw no link between either heart disease or deaths and fried food, no matter how high the intake. This finding may be because the fried food was cooked with oils that are rich in heart healthy mono and polyunsaturated fats. Also of note, the Spanish have one of the world's lowest levels of heart disease.

When looking at this work, you need to understand that in Spain, where the study was done, olive oil is less expensive than anywhere else in the world, and there aren't the other options that you'll find in the U.S. Most of us are used to olive oil being the more costly alternative.

In an accompanying editorial to the study it is pointed out that the evidence defies the myth that fried foods are so bad for your heart. This isn't to suggest that you go all out and order whatever fried indulgence you like... but it does suggest that frying might not be all bad.

Other experts agree that while there's something to consider here, it should not encourage you to be eating fried food all the time and expect benefits for your heart. You need to remember that what matters is how your entire diet balances out - if you're making something fried, try to make sure the rest of the meal is cooked another way to balance things out.
